2023 PSU Waiting for Decisions

@MyaCocoa CONGRATULATIONS!! I am so happy for you and your son!!

@MyaCocoa
Over the moon happy for your son, congratulations to you both!!!
???

@MyaCocoa woohoo! Congratulations to your son! ?

@MyaCocoa best news ever!!! So happy for your son-he will thrive at PSU. Congrats!!

We just heard today too! My son applied in January, but had to input all grades by hand. Apparently he didnt hit ‘send’ for the grades. Discovered this in late Feb - soo only just heard of an acceptance for Architecture today.

@MyaCocoa Make sure he fills out his housing form right away. Hopefully he won’t get supplemental.

What is supplemental?

converted lounges. Can be nice (type “PSU housing trampoline”) or very crowded. Having a regular room is better. Don’t ask for East.

Congrats @MyaCocoa !!! We just came back from a visit. super nice!!

Congrats @Britmom5 !!

Wait I thought University Park is full??? They lied to me then, dude

@ChineseInUSA no they take into account the waitlist… plus your major… what did you apply as a major?

We werent on a waitlist. This was the RD application

@Britmom5 congrats on the Architecture acceptance!

I can’t remember details on where he is choosing?

@Britmom5 @MyaCocoa Supplemental has a whole set of pros and cons. Some kids love it and thrive, other kids find it overwhelming.

  • there is always someone in your room - to find for dinner, etc.
  • there is always someone in your room when you need downtime
  • great way to make many friends on campus because each will have their own subset
  • there is always someone in your room when you need downtime
… and the list goes on.

I know some kids in supplemental who were offered regular rooms for spring. They choose to stay in supplemental for spring rather than a regular room.

It will be what your kid makes of it:
=> look for issues and problems? they will be there.

=> look to take the positive? it will be there.

good luck

@lucyvanpelt My son is rather a loner though I suspect that will change in college. He will HATE supplemental I strongly suspect. He can barely stand to have his one sister in her own room and his sharing a bath with one “slob”! So this should be interesting! The only good thing is that he tends not to text when he’s away, so I’ll miss all the complaining about his room and bath! Whew!

Paterno Fellows (SLO) are set up in their own dorm (no supplemental there I know of) so he should indicate this quickly.

Does anyone know if there is a way to find a roommate if you don’t know someone else going? My son is not thrilled with the idea of random selection. Thanks

They’re Facebook groups, room surf also

Any international students have received any decision yet ? My niece is in Asia and still waits for the decision

@biogirlie did she give them a call? We received my son’s acceptance in Jan
