What do you think my chances of getting east halls renovated if I submitted my housing contract thing last weekend?
@Burnssssy the earlier he better we submitted in early Feb for east renovated
The placement supposedly depends on when you accepted, not which dorms but who accepted first.
@MyaCocoa… Finally, this is such great news!!! I have been quietly rooting for your son and you too!!! What a stressful journey for you both yet it all worked out for the best!!! WE ARE!!!
Penn State!
If you are on Facebook and have not joined Penn State Class of 2023 - Parents Group, please do. Lots of Parents (veteran and new) who share information and ask and answer questions that are very helpful.
@prouddad2020 Does this mean that your son has decided to attend Penn State???
@MyaCocoa Not sure yet. I am giving him space to make a decision himself. I will let you know when he decides.
I applied SUPER late on the 30th March ( i got rejected from my top schools and was getting very turned off from my backup school)… When should i expect to hear back? The enrollment deposit date for my other school is the 1st May but i dont want to go unless i dont get into penn state… i am way above the average grades etc. for penn state so im hoping for an acceptance… only thing is that i am very very late
@collegebritgirl8 what major and did you put summer start?
@collegebritgirl8 You may or may not hear back before May 1, and I think you will be offered a branch campus unless a lot of people fail to accept their offers of admission by May 1 or change their minds and decide to go elsewhere. I’m baffled as to why you’d turn down your acceptance to Arizona with a large scholarship. Even if you do get accepted to Penn State main campus, you won’t get any financial aid. Very few students, even instate students, receive aid from PSU, and Penn State doesn’t give any financial aid to international students.
What major did you apply for? Did you input a Branch campus and summer start?
If you do have admission to U Arizona abd got a scholarship, deposit now, find a roommate, try to remember why you applied.
i applied for polsci and i did put a branch campus but no summer start… thank you guys for the help. i think i will until we near may 1 but probably take up arizona. thanks!
@collegebritgirl8 don’t lose hope!!! i applied in early march and got accepted two days ago!!! just keep checking the portal though, because they never emailed me saying it was updated. oh, and btw i got accepted to the main campus, university park, for biology.
@hannah1789 omg thats so uplifting! thanks!
Anyone still waiting for a decision?
Unfortunately, one of my Chinese friends was rejected by Penn State Admission. The reason stated on the portal was because she did not apply for any of the branch campus.
For me, I’m pretty stoked to be joining the Penn State family at Abington and eventually at University Park.
For the housing, I have chosen to live in the lion gates apartment for my first year. Does anyone know about that apartment? For the town of Abington, how’s the safety and living over there? Since I have never been to East Coast and I’m afraid of facing some unexpected difficulties at Abington.
Thanks to everyone who are willing to answer my questions. Mahalo! ?
Great news! Good luck at Penn State! @chineseinusa
@ChineseInUSA congratulations! Abington is a nice area. It’s suburban, about 30 mins from downtown Philly by train. I think there’s a train station right by the campus. There are plenty of shopping centers close by. It’s a residential area, and there’s a mall about 10-15 minutes away. The dorm/apartments are new, and from the pics I’ve seen, they look very nice. I believe there are a good amount of international students living there, which is good since a lot of the local students probably go home on weekends . If you have any questions about the area, let me know! We are!!
@penmom222 Thank you for sharing all these useful infos! I do have some more questions though. My mom is currently a student attending a licensed language school in Hawaii, and by the time I’m heading to Penn this summer, she might transfer to a language school in Philly ideally. Do you have any recommendation for choosing a language school over there in Philly? Or do you know any certified language school for adults? Second, do you know any elementary school that is well known and has good reputation in Philly as well? Thank you once again, it will be our first time traveling to the East Coast and we can’t wait it!
