***2024-2025 BS/MD/DO Students and Parents***

I am a bit pizzled by statement that if student is not strong in science, LECOM is a good choice… Can you explain why?
Do you know that LECOM requires students to be natural science majors for BS?
So student can’t be anthropology, sociology or even math major. There are pretty much 3-4 choices (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and in some colleges Biochem or some derivative.) How a student not good/strong in science can fulfill LECOM requirements with natural science major with required GPA?

It is based on my daughters’ experiences. All of my three daughters went to BA MD or BS MD programs. My first daughter got accepted by five BA/BS-MD programs. She decided to go to a BA/MD program because she wanted to major in environmental science. She’s kind of strong in science, but surprisingly got a B- in physics 2. She told me that B- was the highest grade students could get from this professor. She’s lucky because the BA/MD program she attended did not set up the lowest grade students should get, but this experience made me very nervous and suggested my second and third daughters not to apply to any BA/BS-MD programs that require a B in science courses. My second daughter also went to a BA MD program. She could choose any majors she wanted, but ended up she majored in biology and minored in anthropology. She’s not strong in science. She got a C in orgo 2 but got an A in all of biology courses. She told me that it’s very easy to get an A in non-premed required science courses.

Yes, LECOM EAP students must major in science, but it only requires students to get 3.3 in science GPA and have no grade lower than C, which are very easy for students to fulfill.

I would urge @Rb123456 to look at the LECOM BS/DO option. Students MUST attend one of the partner schools for this. Look this up, and see what your student needs to do to get accepted and continue in the LECOM portion of this program.

Tell this to my LECOM daughter at Rhodes.
GPA 3.3 = B+. There are no easy A even in Bio at Rhodes. In fact it is very difficult to get A in Bio 1. Dd who is very strong in Chem was happy to get B in Orgo 1. Class average in Neuro is 80. Guess what, need to drop it to protect GPA. Her very smart and hard working friend in upper Bio class struggles with C (never had a C and only one B before.) Your idea of easy As is very strange. I have no idea where it is coming from. Maybe your daughter’s school was giving As left and right in environmental science. My DD is strong in science and works around the clock for her GPA, she has 0 easy science classes and she can’t be environmental science major for LECOM.

PLME had 4251 applications last year and 76 were accepted.

One learning that we didn’t focus on much last year if anyone is considering both BS/MD and traditional routes is class offerings. At Brown, the orgo sequence is only offered spring/fall, so students that test out of intro chem will begin spring freshman year. My student mentioned it, but I didn’t quite take it in, I can see how this could easily be overlooked in college selection. It would effect timing if not skipping intro, study abroad, etc. I know gap years are common, but this would quickly choose that path in some cases due to class sequence.

USF BS MD GPA is 3.8, FAU GP is 3.7 requirement , this GPA needed for every semester, compared to that 3.3 is much easier

3.3 easier than 3.7 or 3.8.
But idea that As will be given like candies and science classes are easy is fundamentally wrong.
And 3.3 GPA is for science only. I do not remember what is minimum overall GPA every semester. They change it all the time.
Also eventhough 3.3 is easier, A-=3.7 and B+=3.3. So LECOM allows B+ average and whatever program requires A- average.
It is not like LECOM alows Cs…

Agree, and in general if we see the admissions for an MD program is 3.8 average, so it is relative comparison

Good to see some life in this forum

Hello - I am not too sure of how to start a new thread so putting this here. Does anyone know if folks have started receiving the interview calls from the penn state PMM program?

As per their admissions office, it is expected sometime this week.

Any PMM interview invites out yet ? per the admissions office

It came out today

Yes, Thank you

Do they role out the invites or rejections across multiple days? We haven’t received anything yet, neither acceptance nor rejection..

It comes in waves, last year we got rejection at the end, but many got interviews on the same day

It comes out in waves, as @sdad2024 mentioned.
As long as you do not get an explicit rejection, you are under consideration.

Has anyone received interview invites? We have not yet received acceptance or rejection. No decision on undergrad admission either.

Any update regarding Njit/rutgers or tcnj?

I have not yet heard of anyone receiving an interview invite. Rejections have already been communicated. IF you have not received any communication yet, it means you are still in consideration.
