2024 Decision Thread/University of Delaware

Been awaiting decision for almost 3 weeks now… applied early September and had all my things in by October. This is brutal.

@NJapplicantmom did you call the admissions office at all to ask re the rolling admissions? We were told the same when we visited last April. My son is also an August applicant.

UD also states that decisions for EA will be received by Jan 15, so anything before then is technically early. It’s still nerve-wracking, especially when others receive a decision, for sure. I am pretty sure they also state that they do not start processing apps before Oct-something?

The confusing part for people is that Delaware is technically no longer rolling admission. Some of the students who work in the admissions office and on tours will tell you it is because it was that way when they applied. Further complicating the situation is the school has been admitting some very highly qualified candidates (as is their right) in a time frame that may look more like rolling admission. This is the first year where it ISN’T rolling admission. Sit tight and best of luck to all!!

They’ve also admitted some with admirable but not elite stats as well, though, which I think is the source of some confusion.

I just checked and the UDel website says Early Action decisions will be released on Jan 31. Not sure why some have received earlier notifications, but that’s the word on the website. Perhaps a call to admissions is in order to clarify the rolling admissions thing?

I emailed an admission’s person a few weeks ago about when to expect decisions…
Their reply : “There isn’t a set date on when we will begin releasing decisions, but you could see a decision as early as the Thanksgiving Holiday. In any event, you will receive an alert via email when there is new activity on your portal page.”

i submitted september 8 and it was last updated on 11/16 but i haven’t heard anything and it says status awaiting decision

Has anyone heard back today?

Just the in status change from “awaiting decision” to “final decision” last night.

@Momtofourkids, Just like you, we toured in April and were encouraged to apply August 1, so my daughter worked hard to have everything in by August 1st. They told us rolling admissions and notifications within 4-6 weeks. My daughter emailed her counselor and now tells her no longer do they do rolling admissions. So obviously conflicting information is being relayed out. We will be patient but they definitely encouraged early applications because they stated there were advantages of applying early due to rolling admission. Does not seem that way seeing some applied after November 1 and were notified within a couple weeks. Perhaps depends on the major.

Technically they are not rolling . With rolling everyone finds out a few weeks after you apply. This is selective like rolling … they are handpicking who they really want 1st. It’s frustrating for sure . I have no doubt most will find out before Xmas. Good luck to us all!

@Squezical- any word yet? My status changed to “Final Decision” today… so nervous!! Good luck to you

Yes! Just checked. My daughter was accepted! She applied mid-October, notified of “Final Decision” last night and the Portal was updated after 5pm today. Good luck everyone!

Congrats!! Mind me asking her stats and school? Still waiting… total torture! Lol

I meant major!

We are out of state and applied Early Action for University Studies Program (Undeclared).

My daughter was accepted today. 3.56 GPA/3.99W & 25 ACT (does not test well). Major Fashion Merchandising, from MD.

I just checked the portal, my daughter was accepted! Her status never changed from “awaiting decision” as I looked about an hour ago.

My daughter was also accepted today. Her status didn’t change from “Awaiting Decision” either. We also never had a “disappearing major”. Applied 10/3. Application complete 10/4. Acceptance came 7 weeks after submission. The application was at Awaiting Decision for 2 weeks. 1270 ACT, 27 ACT, 3.7 GPA, Political Science.
Good Luck to Everyone!
