2024 Decision Thread/University of Delaware

Either way, it’s

What major did he apply for? I know some are slower than others to come out.

@sapmom Business (economics as second choice)

Hopefully he’ll hear soon! I know in the past parents/students have called to ask when they can expect a decision. May be worth a shot to make sure nothing is stalling his application? EA notification deadline is Jan 31, so I suspect there will be a big batch finding out soon.

Still no decision on honors even though it says decision released on the 24th. Hopefully by the end of the day there will be a notification

@baseball15678 same here

@baseball15678 - my son’s portal says Honors will be released in early April.

I think all portals say that, but some honors decisions have already been released, so it’s probably rolling.

D portal updated with HONORS ACCEPTANCE at 5pm tonight!

OOS trustees scholarship
95 gpa
33 ACT
equestrian/track athlete
NHS
Pre- vet major

thats the final piece D is ready to commit to being a blue hen!

Accepted into Honors tonight!
1390 SAT
100.182 weighted GPA
Definitely looking like a good option, have to see the benefits of honors

My DS was an RD OOS applicant and received his ACCEPTANCE to his first choice major tonight (Business Management)!

And it also said something about being a candidate for World Scholars (We’ll have to do some research in that.).
Honors app is still under review. No FA/scholarship info yet…Very excited!
1210, 3.86UW, top 10%, great EC’s with many leadership positions and many service volunteer hours.

Ahhh! So happy you finally got the notice!

Congrats, everyone with news today!

Does anyone know if 17k a year is the max amount of scholarship money, and if they give more money to people once they’re accepted to honors? I just got in tonight.

@bridget328 i received 17k and I’m not entirely sure if it’s max for OOS, but I did get into honors tonight and received no additional money

My son applied 1/12 and got his acceptance last night (1/24). No mention of merit aid, he is OOS, and portal says Honors Program app still pending. Sounds like from all the posts above that he will hear about merit aid (up to $17k) in writing, and honors program at a different later date? Nice to read above about this Distinguished Scholars opportunity that some get invited to participate in as well. Trying to get our heads around UDel process because UVM did it all in one step (admit, honors invite and $$$), and that helps a lot in weighing options. Great forum! Thanks to all participants.

We never got a letter for my daughter’s merit. It only showed up on her portal. About a week or two later, we got her financial aid package, also on the portalWe were expecting next to nothing, so to see a small Uni grant was great.

We are now waiting on Honors and World Scholars, although I have heard that they do not often encourage students to do both programs.

This is off topic, but I was wondering if anyone else got a mailer from OCMP? It’s an off campus meal plan and UDel is listed, but when we visited in September they said that they didn’t have a meal plan for restaurants on Main Street and in that area. They could’ve changed it since we visited, but I wasn’t sure if it was legit.

I’ve never heard of that - but I looked it up and it appears that they do offer it
Here’s the link to the restaurants

@“k_atherine.h” thank you. I was on the website already, I just didn’t know if anyone else received the mailer. I was interested in doing one of the plans but wanted to make sure it was legit. Since it’s something new I wonder if they’ll be adding even more restaurants.

Hmmm… interesting. I did not get a mailer and am not aware of such a plan but I will certainly ask when I go to the bagel place in the morning. It could very well be something new but I frequent a lot of these places. Seems like I would have heard about it in some way. On that campus every week with my son. Will certainly check and report back.

@Bech05 …OK… got the 411. My kid works on campus at one of the places listed. So I asked him if he knew about this. Of course he did. Called the name and everything before I mentioned it. The OCMP is a meal plan specifically for commuters . UD students residing ON campus do not and can not have access to the OCMP. So there you have it. He also said some of the restaurants around campus, including where he works, DO accept what he thinks are UD’s flex dollars. We didn’t pay much attention when we were touring cause it’s not high up on his list. Kid also said that he overheard some students talking about something about that changing next year… but he also said they were drunk and it could just have been drunk talk … HA
