Davidson offered a student a spot off the WL but only had a very tight window of time to decide.

Lol. I just talked to Michigan Undergraduate admission and she said she is not aware of anyone being taken off the wait list yet. Lol. Maybe she didn’t get the latest update

Report is from a counselor from a student of hers

I am sure it is. During the pandemic the undergraduate office was aware of taking early. Maybe I will call later and get someone else. Lol.

I listed it as TOSU (for THE Ohio State :squinting_face_with_tongue:) with notation. Feel free to change if desired to OSU

Generally wait list offers do have a time limit. What’s unusual about this Davidson situation is that the WL deadline is before May 1 (which all the Davidson RD admits have as their enrollment deadline). So in theory the WL student could accept the Davidson offer, pay the deposit, and change their mind and deposit at another school by May 1 (of course they would likely lose their Davidson deposit.)

They could also accept and then choose another WL (if offered) after May 1 too, yes? But yes, they’d have to decide by May 1 if the other acceptances are of higher priority

For sure!

Ahhhh, let the real chess games begin :joy:

I have 0.0 zero feelings about TOSU vs OSU, lol (I’m all about the blue, as in maize and blue :blue_heart: :yellow_heart: ).

My daughter’s waitlist offer of admission this week requested her response (they left a her a VM and emailed) if she was no longer interested they would make the offer to another student on the WL and if she would be interested in accepting the offer of admission, they would then release her acceptance letter/update her portal and she would have until May 1 to place deposit and commit. WL change to admission email also gave terms of her merit award.

Adding WashU for business (per counselors)

Good point! My daughter is on 6 waitlists, as are so many students. So over this whole process! :face_with_peeking_eye:

Yup, almost done. My son is only on one waitlist but of course it’s his top choice. Couldn’t imagine 6. Good luck.

It seems the first “round” of WL offers have followed the schools’ calculations after students declining initial acceptances have been tallied. It will be interesting to see how this continues after May 1 and of course into the summer melt. As we have all surmised, this is likely to be a very active year with waitlist movement. Good luck to everyone. Please be realistic, but stay positive. As we can all see, a waitlist is not a rejection  it’s a “maybe” .
