2026 BUTI Tanglewood Results

We just got a second email from BUTI that says “CORRECTED” in the subject but there is no change from the initial acceptance email. Did anyone else get 2 emails?

I did, 3 emails in total, 2 of them had corrected. The first email had a program in both accepted and waitlisted categories. The second one had this corrected. The third was the same of the second.

We heard back from Tanglewood and were not accepted, nor were we waitlisted. Does anyone know of any notable summer programs still accepting applications for a 9th grader who plays euphonium?

Try Interlochen?

have you heard of Sewanee?

Philadelphia International Music Festival (PIMF) is still accepting applications and they have a wind symphony.

Mine waitlisted for YAO violin, not sure the chance of getting off the list

Hang in there! Back in 2000, my kid was waitlisted at BUTI (accepted to the instrument workshop but not the wind ensemble which was what he wanted). So…we signed him up for an additional summer at New England Music Camp. Just as the check cleared for that, he received a call saying he was accepted to BUTI. Fortunately, NEMC was understanding and refunded our money (or maybe we just switched it to our DD…).

Good luck to everyone.

Hi all — my 15-year-old son was just accepted into the Young Artists Vocal Program and we’re trying to decide. He was waitlisted at Interlochen for classical voice/opera, so BUTI is very much on the table. Reading through some older threads, I’m a bit curious about the supervision situation — he’s on the younger end and this would be his first experience at a program like this. Would love to hear from anyone whose kid has been through the vocal program specifically. Any insight is appreciated!

We’d love to know too!

My personal experience is 30+ years old  so I am not entirely sure how relevant, but from what I have heard it has not changed too much. We had almost zero supervision. They checked to see if you were in your dorm after curfew, and other than that, you were on your own and responsible for making sure you were where you were supposed to be. You could go into town when you wanted (very safe); boys and girls were allowed in any dorm during the day. You could go to concerts or not. I’m guessing they must have tightened down some of this by now, but generally they do expect students to be mature and behave themselves. While I was there, I didn’t see issues with alcohol or drugs, but there definitely was a lot of canoodling going on.

My daughter, who will be 15 by July, has also been accepted into the Young Artists Vocal Program and is very excited to be spending six weeks away! This will be the first time that she will have been away for so long; it’s been a maximum of two weeks up to now. Slightly scary for me I have to say.

Has anyone received an email regarding the scholarship for this year? The email said it should be out today but we’ve heard nothing from them yet.

Also has anyone gotten off a waitlist for the youth orchestra as a woodwind?

I was wondering the same thing! We haven’t got the scholarship/financial aid email yet.

I live in the area, and it’s magical in the summer. When BUTI is in session, I’ve seen some BUTI kids busking and enjoying the town, walking the grounds, and taking in the concerts at night. She’s going to have a great time!

We have not received an email about scholarship or financial aid of any sort from Tanglewood yet. As of now, we are accepted to the bassoon workshop and still on the waitlist for orchestra and wind ensemble.

Has anyone tried calling them? Does anyone know if we had to deposit the $1000 to qualify for the scholarship? We are accepted to the workshop and wind ensemble, but on the waitlist for the orchestra.

Just received an email with a scholarship offer

Just wondering if anyone here heard back from the composition workshop yet.
My son is currently on the waiting list, so we’re quietly keeping our fingers crossed.

Would love to hear how things are going for other composition applicants this year.
