Not composition specific, but I know a cellist who was admitted to BUTI Young Artist Orchestra off the waitlist 2 weeks before camp started last year.

Thank you for sharing that — it truly gives families like ours a bit of hope.
My son is currently on the waitlist for the composition workshop, and like many others here, we are quietly keeping our fingers crossed. I know many talented students are fortunate enough to receive multiple offers from wonderful summer programs, and choosing between them must be incredibly difficult.
If anyone happens to already know they will attend another program, releasing a spot a little earlier could mean so much to a young composer waiting with hope. What may feel like a small administrative decision for one family could become an unforgettable moment of encouragement and joy for another child.
Wishing all the young musicians a meaningful and inspiring summer, wherever their paths lead.

Hi! Just checking in here if anyone hears any movement on the waitlist? I emailed the office and they asked me to check back again in two weeks.
Hi Cynthiamo, I feel we are clones, lol. We are non-musician parents; we have a 14 yr old violinist, this is our first time applying to music camps, so we applied to several programs since we have no idea how this works, and our son is also wait-listed for BUTI YAO violin. We haven’t heard anything from them. We don’t know how these wait lists work, but at this point it would appear the chances of getting off the wait list are slim. Well, at least we tried.
lol yes I think we are on the same boat:) I guess the strategy is to secure one program and continue to wait ?

Today, we received an offer from the waitlist for the BUTI YAO violin program for a 14-year-old. The child did not apply for the violin workshop. Regrettably, it’s not possible for us to take it. I’m documenting this so those seeking similar information can gauge when waitlist offers are typically released. Good luck to all!

Hi - this happened to us too! My daughter only applied for the Viola workshop one year and was offered both the workshop and the Orchestra.
