What are my chances of getting in? Is SCA Prez a good hook?

Excellent. Be hopeful! Apply to other safties though.

Being SCA president is not a good hook. You will probably not get in.

Even if your 3.5 GPA is weighted or unweighted, you will not have a very good chance of getting in. SCA President means very little, if anything at all. If you’re really set on UVA, you might as well give it a shot and get lucky

whats sca?

Student Council Association. I cant speak for Jacob1928, but at my school they organize homecoming and do all kinds of school spirit activities.

Is that GPA weighted or unweighted? If its unweighted you may have a shot, but honestly if that is the only major ec you have you’d have to find a way to seriously show how committed you are and how much it means to you. President of SCA is just not a very original extracurricular and thats what you need to make up for having not-so-good grades and SAT scores. You would be truly amazed by some of the things that applicants to good schools do in their spare time.

Edit: I just saw your similar post in the VT forum, but it said you have a 3.4 GPA and a lot of awards and ec’s. If you would expand on those, people on here may give you a better idea

jacob, you and everyone is a student council president or secretary or vice president.

unless your gpa puts you at the very top of your class, 3.5 weighted or unweighted isn’t good enough for UVa. plus your SATs are well below the 25% mark (those under the 25% are usually of a special group of athletes/urms/special admits/valedvictorians who test horribly)

not to discourage you - i mean you’ll have people here who will say “apply maybe you’ll get lucky” - but honestly, i wouldn’t waste my $60. if you’re instate and you really want to apply, go for it. if you’re out of state don’t bother.
