In my school someone with as low as a 3.5 got in, and 1900 Sat score! :o
.
HOW WHAT WHEN WHY???
.
Okay this is a question in general, for those you admit with a 3.7 gpa and lower, is it usually because of race or sports or wealth or legacy or first/second generation?
.
whats the hook that is used more to get in UVA?
cause that’s what I imagine, that they had to have some sort of a hook

please don’t answer jumpseat, I really don’t want this thread to be another debate

Well this is the rare exception I guess.

It might be that they had a lot of ECs or did really well in them. Or their essays were really good. Something along those lines.

I don’t think a 1900 is bad…

The lower 50% (out of the middle) had an 1830

my son was admitted with a 3.6, white, male, 2300 sat

^ there had to be some kind of hook, no?

I was accepted to the UVA School, of Architecture. I applied with a 3.73 going into my senior year. At the end of my 2nd semester senior year it was up to a 3.8 something. My SATs were 1420 on the 1600 scale. I had some decent extra-curricular, mainly me being an Eagle Scout. I had also gone to Cornell’s Summer College Program for Architecture, a 6-week long program, last summer. I earned 6-credits in the field of Architecture with a 3.85 GPA. I think that may have been my “hook”. I am male, white, VA resident.
