3 Missing Women Found in Cleveland Home

Okay I see two calls in 2004 and one in 2011, Any judges on the board? Could the cops have gotten a warrant based on what we know so far?

The neighbor (Charles) thought he knew the homeowner, and he knew that there should not have been a woman living there. When he went to the door, he saw that it would not open very far, so clearly she was trapped in the house. He was smart enough to act quickly. It gives me chills that the suspect had only gone to McDonald’s, probably to get carryout food. Fortunately the police got there in time.

sylvan _ I am just not second guessing what the police did. I do not think they acted negligently at all. In hindsight they should have broken down the doors and entered in 2004 but with what they knew at the time they did what they should have.

my point is just because the police don’t have a “report” doesn’t mean people didn’t call the police and the police didn’t show up, it means they didn’t do paperwork on the events, which is negoligence, IMHO, and laziness

so are two seperate neighbors lying about the police? i think not

three missing women, abductions not far fromt his house, and reports of naked woman and banging on windows, and neighbors saying they called the police

knowing what happened with my friend and no report, its doesn’t surpise me int he least these cops didn’t follow up

pathetic

Why would the police verify calls in 2000 and 2004 but not have calls from 2011. We get it Seahorse you had a bad result with the police so you find fault with all of them.

because they are CTAing. ANd if the police who showed up at the 2011 call didn’t do the paperwork, follow through, and blew it off, there would be nothing to verify.

If I hadn’t called right back and got the officers name who ignored my friend, then he could say whatever he wanted about my friend. WHen I called back to find out what happened, the original officer answered the phone, and I was put on hold for ten minutes to speak to the Lt. who seemed to have the “whole” story and claimed it was a language barrior and that my friend had nothing to report, though we were told to report every incident.

SO yeah, its possible the police involved in this case didn’t follow thru, did a quick looksie and drove away and didn’t log in and make a report.

Itll come out that they should have.

Really wonderful column about Amanda and Charles:

[How Three Kidnapped Women Escaped in Cleveland : The New Yorker](What Charles Ramsey and Amanda Berry Knew | The New Yorker)

“For Berry and the others to be rescued, in other words, two things had to happen: she had to never forget who she was, and that who she was mattered; and Ramsey needed to not care who she might be at all—to think that all that mattered was that a woman was trapped behind a door that wouldn’t open, and to walk onto the porch.”

Ramsey is a real hero. What an extra treat that he has such a wonderful, self-effacing way of speaking. When I first saw his interview (the shorter version) I thought he would become the next auto-tune celebrity, but I hope he doesn’t. This is so much bigger and what he did is so much more important.

Charles Ramsey should be a trainer for 911 dispatchers. “Put yourself in her shoes”. Common sense and empathy, a great combination, bro.

My impression from the detective I saw on television was that a record of all calls is kept. It is not necessary for an officer to log the call it is done through the phone system.

I am sure there are thousands of records to go through.

So we have this - 2000 Castro calls and reports a fight on the street
2004 report of a naked women in the yard- police visit no one answers
2004 yelling inside a home police visit no answer

I assume these are the two calls where you feel more should have been done. What should have been done- could the police have gotten a warrant based on these calls. If they could not get a warrant should they have kicked in the door on the first or second call?

there were more calls, more neighbors saying they made calls, so yeah, failure all around for the cleveland police, not just the couple the cleveland deny ever happened

How many calls- should they have requested a warrant. If so based on what? Should they have kicked in the door and entered without a warrant?

IF they had done what they were supposed to and LOG the account and CONNECT the dots, then yes, when the call came in then maybe walking around a building and shrugging their shoulders wouldn’thave b\een acceptable.

If i see twenty men a day going in and out of the house across the street, and another neighbor at another time reports the same, then shouldn’t the cops go hmmm, lets check this out

Neither a naked woman in a back yard nor yelling is indication of criminal activity. The police is both of those situations had no obvious reason to investigate further. From what I’ve read online, most neighbors said that they had noticed nothing unusual in the past ten years. If the total suspicious activity generated only a couple calls over ten years by neighbors who would have observed Castro on a regular basis, I don’t know how anyone could place blame on inadequate police investigation. One report stated that the uncle of one of the victims had been in Castro’s house and noticed nothing strange.

I just read that Amanda’s mother died of heart failure at age 44.

For some reason, I am thinking of a neighbor in our old neighborhood. I called this woman “the town crier.” She did nothing but collect and distribute information. I avoided her as much as possible, but it was impossible to evade her completely. Any time someone came out of their house she would be right there, asking nosy questions, and reporting on what she had learned about other people in the neighborhood. Too bad there wasn’t someone like this woman in that Cleveland neighborhood.

I read that Charles was a restaurant worker, very well-regarded, and that one of his employers said that he was censoring himself in the interviews!

One of the victims (Gina DeJesus) was the kidnapper’s daughter’s best friend. That explains a lot if it’s true.

[Kidnapped women Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michele Knight’s first day of freedom | News.com.au](http://www.news.com.au/world-news/kidnapped-women-amanda-berry-gina-dejesus-and-michelle-knight-s-first-day-of-freedom/story-fndir2ev-1226637208857)

More about hero Mr. Ramsey:

[Video: I’m the definition of a man](http://video.news.com.au/2383867978/Im-the-definition-of-a-man)

I didn’t see a link yet to Ramsay’s 911 call, which manages to be chilling and a profane hoot simultaneously–apparently he’s a man who sees events in his life through a prism of what he’s eating at the time:
[Charles Ramsey’s 911 Call After He Found Amanda Berry (WITH CAPTIONS) - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)
But I have to say I’m getting a little fuzzy on what “heroic” action Ramsay really took–I’ve seen mentions of a crowd of people reacting to the screams and the police breaking down the door and extricating the other women, and his 911 call was made at the same time as Amanda’s. I’m hoping he hasn’t engaged in a little unwarranted self promotion–he certainly seems to have been savvy in playing up the McDonalds angle, even in the 911 call. Does anyone have a good handle on the facts/timeline? My spidey sense is tingling. Hope it’s on the fritz.

Ariel Castro’s daughter was interviewed about the disappearance of her best friend Gina DeJesus on America’s Most Wanted:[Arlene Castro-Gina DeJesus: Ariel Castro’s daughter told America’s Most Wanted that she was the last person to see DeJesus alive.](Arlene Castro-Gina DeJesus: Ariel Castro's daughter told America's Most Wanted that she was the last person to see DeJesus alive.)
It is really mind-boggling to watch the video.

Mr. Ramsey kicked out the bottom of the door, allowing Amanda Berry and her daughter to climb out of the hole. That’s why she says she’s free in the 911 call. The cops got the other two women out, but Ramsey got Amanda Berry out before she called the cops.

Oh, and as far as I know, only one other person reacted to the screams. In his interview tonight with Anderson Cooper, Ramsey mentions the neighbor.

Even more disturbing…http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2013/05/07/the-long-history-of-ariel-castro-cleveland-kidnapper-and-monster

I really dislike the ‘miracle’ angle on these things, any decent miracle would have given the kidnappers a collective heart attack before they first committed a crime.
