I may be in Miami when I find out if it’s released early. Im going to the Singer Scholarship weekend. I dont know if that’s good luck or bad luck, considering I was away from home when I got my best ACT score.

If I am accepted to UVA prior to March 30th, I will not bother looking at my other decisions.

I have feeling that we will receieve something next friday, based on the past response dates.

@themann44- I am sure location has a strong correlation with scores/acceptances. Just like ice cream is strongly correlated with drownings. =p jk

Best of Luck to everyone I am 1/1 and hope to keep my college acceptance streak.

@bigshot it was sarcastic optimism.
im 6/6 with 4 scholarships/honors and a likely… so lets hope i keep THAT streak up =p

That Friday would just be absolutely amazing. I mean, denial would kill, but acceptance, amazing.

This Friday is not possible. We’re still working. :)

EDIT: Oops…I thought you were saying THIS Friday. Sorry!

No prob Dean J!

Someone either stole my UVA hoodie today at school, or I left it somewhere and the janitor put it in lost an found. Sigh… Hopefully I can find it, because when I open my decision I plan to be sporting both my UVA hoodie and lucky t-shirt.

For the while:

UVAorBust -

I feel like I know you. You are so much fun on CC! Gosh I really hope you get into UVA.
I have a feeling you are probably a legend in the admissions office.

Good luck!

I totally agree 2011VAMom! I think there are several of us moms on here who are pulling hard for UVAorBust to get the “golden ticket” in the next couple of weeks.

I know this analogy doesn’t quite work because his stats are excellent and he is seemingly on par with these other students for admission, but it is like he is my team’s one (non-playing) senior who I want to not only put in his last game- I want him to shoot the 3 with no time on the clock to win the championship!

Best of luck to UVAorBust and all of you in the next week…mostly, no matter what, try to keep this decision in perspective…
you all have a chance to make a difference in this world no matter where you end up.

HALLELUJAH!!! Florida State!!! YEA DOGGGYYYYYYYYY!!!

Wahoo!!!

Now I’m going into all my RD’s with no regrets. If I get denied at all my regular decisions, I’ve got a boat to fall back on! This is my first acceptance that just feels amazing.

PS: thanks parents - you guys have been very helpful over the past year and have always been there to help me!

UVAorBust…Am I missing something? What about BC and UMich? Didn’t those acceptances feel “amazing”?

UVAorBust, bro, your awesome, and your posts on UVA forum are interesting and helpful but this is like the 10th+ time you’ve dragged BC and UMich into the mud…If you don’t like those schools, why did you apply?? BC and UMich are both good schools, esp. UMich. And Good luck with UVA decision UVAorBust. I hope they can release the decisions a few days early…

I honestly don’t really know why I applied to BC or Mich. I guess because I didn’t want to apply only to reaches and safetys. I would not attend these schools due to financial reasons, even though they are amazing schools. Anyone should be so lucky to be admited to either one of those schools. I can not justify having my parents pay sticker price for BC or Mich. Don’t ask me why, but it is a personal reason.

Coming from NY, its only a few thousand more per year than OOS UVA…

I can think of one very good reason to pick FSU over BC or UMich…the weather!!

That is very true theman44, but then again, I got into BC and Mich. Arrogance aside, I knew I had a very, very good shot at both of those schools. All my RD schools, on the other hand, are, well, in a different league (remember this is my opinion). I do not believe BC and Mich are worth 50k and 56k. I know Mich is only 5k more a year than UVA, but that adds up to 20k more debt over 4 years. That is a LOT of debt. I could never justify putting myself in that vast of debt directly out of college with no definite source of income. My parents will pay 40k a year for whatever school I want to attend. I have money from working, I will be working during college (not only for the money, but because it teaches a kid morals), and will be receiving 5k a year from my FL prepaid plan. Thus, UVA would be 100% debt free for me.

Yes, Mich is only 5k more a year, but 20k debt by the time graduation rolls around? I don’t think so. FA is completely out of the question as well.

Plus, I know FSU is in a completely different league than BC / Mich, but for the profession I desire, these schools are in the same realm.

Guys, don’t get me wrong. I think Mich and BC are great schools. However, because of my reasons, I will attend neither.

UVAorBust I respect your perspective on the debt load. However, I must disagree with you regarding BC/UMich being in the same league as FSU for business, not even close. I say business because you have stated on several posts you wanted to pursue the IB’ing industry. You know I wish you well wherever you end up.

^good reason man. Wow UMich OOS is 56k? ***… Btw, congrats on FSU, and I agree about good weather being one of factors in choosing a colllege.

woosah - you are probably right. BC and Mich are definitely better than FSU for business. However, I don’t think they’re that much better as to put myself in 20k+ debt. Apart from the debt, I don’t think BC or Mich are really matches for me in terms of fit. Obviously the weather is a factor, but there are a few other reasons as well.

I think it’s pretty mature to be factoring cost into your college search up front. There are probably some students out there who won’t start thinking about finances until after the offers are on the table.

Thanks Dean J,

I do feel kind of bad that I was accepted to BC and Mich even though I will not be attending. I guess I would have seriously considered the schools if I received a scholarship and was rejected at one of my RD schools.

PS - After using the updated blog for around a month, I’ve found a couple of minor bugs that maybe you would like to know about. Do you want me to post a list here, email you, or just not mention them at all, as they are only minor issues.
