I’ve been using Loreal Age Perfect since it was recommended to me a few years ago. I do like that it is not greasy but I’m thinking that there may be something better out there.

If you’re not cost sensitive, it’s hard to beat La Prairie, though most are horrified by the line’s prices. I got hooked after a facial where it was used.

What type of skin do you have ? Dry? Oily ?

I like to make my own.

I’ve been using AVON’s line of problem specific moisturizers (i.e., wrinkle prevention, pore-reduction, re-surfacing, etc.) for about 6 months and really enjoy them. I was using an eyelid moisturizer to help prevent droopy upper eyelids and I do notice a difference. Before this, I used YVES ROCHER for years and will probably go back and use it again when the AVON is out. They (YR) send gifts with your orders and they sent me a couple of jars of the moisturizer I was using which I haven’t opened yet.

Renova 4 nights a week and Oil of Olay Regenerist cream the other 3 nights.

I was just going to post a thread like this.
I have dry everything, dry eyes, dry mouth and dry skin. ( plus I am a redhead- so it is really thin and fragile)

I have been using lots of different things that work to varying degrees.
I am also much vainer than I realized, so after being told for 30 years that I look much younger than I am, the dry skin has aged me in a hurry.
One of the things I use is jojoba oil ( desert essence I think). I use it on my hair everyweek or so overnight & I use it all over my body and my face.
I also use Weleda Skin Food, which is great, but it clogs the pores on my face ( it has lanolin so it is absorbed really well)
Exfoliation is very important to get the dry bits off- I use a facial brush and a body brush in the shower, but I also use Desert Essence refining bamboo scrub.

I used to use a papaya masque by Zia, but they don’t seem to make it anymore.

I really like [Dr.Hauschka Skin Care: Natural Skin Care with Organic Ingredients; Holistic Home Remedies](http://www.drhauschka.com/), but it is a little pricey for me, the Skin Food creme is most like it.

Burt’s Bees is another line that is relatively inexpensive that I like.
the Repair serum is absorbed well ( mixture of oils)

This is a line that I have tried the testers at the grocery store and I really like it, but it is more expensive than what I usually use.
[suki inc.](DRAGON78 - Situs Luar Negeri Pertama Menghasilkan Cuan)

I realized you were just asking for moisturizer suggestions not the whole kaboodle
then it would be neutrogena plus some sort of silicone primer for under makeup

Has anyone tried that Strivectin SD ? I see it at Costco for about half what it is in department stores, but that’s still $$$.

My skin used to be oily (back in the day) but now it is quite dry. Cbreeze: My dermatologist suggested Renova as well. Do you use it every other day because it is drying?

Wow, so many things already that I haven’t heard of. Carry on.

I’ve used Lubriderm since my early 30s, and continue to use it to this day. I make sure my face is damp first and then slather it on. It absorbs better if you have a small amount of water on your face. (Believe it or not, my son had this as a question on a chemistry exam. He told me what he deduced and I told him he was probably right, because of this beauty tip I had heard of.)

And never never never go in the sun without major sunscreen.

Never.

hmom5- I was a La Prairie person, too, for many years. When we moved to TN and I lost my store and my wonderful sales person, I weaned myself off. It really was too expensive for me. I switch around between Clinique (Repairwear or comparable) and Prescriptives with an occasional Hope in a Jar by Philosophy thrown in. I also swear by prescription RetinA every other night.

Sunscreen … I’ve just starteded using Neutrogena Age Shield Face SPF 70. I was told to make sure that sunscreen contains Helioplex which this does.

Twinmom, that’s what I use too. It feels so powerful – I imagine I’ve got a layer of plastic across my face!!

VeryHappy: That is a good visual!
Can you use moisturizer with sunscreen (on top of or before its application) or does that negate its effectiveness?

Olay Regenerist, the lotion with sunscreen in the morning, and the night cream at night. My skin is still very oily, and both of these seem to do a good job of keeping my skin hydrated without adding to the grease quotient. Plus the night cream smells lovely. Frankly, I don’t think there’s all that much difference between moisturizers (the basic ingredients are pretty much the same from brand to brand), so I go for the feel, the smell, and the price.

I just use Neutrogena for “combination skin” but then I’m Black (as in “'don’t crack”)…1 have a niece selling “Arbonne” out of Los Angeles…meh…

Twinmom : Renova or Retin A is very drying on the skin so maybe that explains your skin turning dry. It makes your skin more sensitive to the sun so make sure you use the best sun protection you can get your hands on. Also the correct way to apply sunscreen is every two hours because Parsol - the active ingredient is lose it effectiveness under the sun. I read Neutrogena with Helioplex is one of the most stable formulations available in the US so maybe it does not need to be applied as often.

I also use a version of Cellex C (Vitamin C+E+Ferulic acid) under the sunscreen. Cannot get enough of antioxidants to combat those free radicals. :)

I just can’t get in the habit of using anything regularly on my skin. Guess I better get with the program since I just turned the big 5-0.
Once in a while I stand in the moisturizer aisle in Walmart or Target and walk away confused.

For years, I used Dove soap and Neutrogena moisturizer. About a year ago I went to a dermatologist, who told me that every woman over 40 should be on a retinoid. Not only does it repair wrinkles, it stops pre-cancers from becoming cancers. She put me on a regimen that is working very well for me. I now wash my face with a foaming 20% glycolic acid wash (can’t think of the name), and I use Elta MD moisturizer with SPF 45 every day. I do not reapply it - I will have to ask about that. I didn’t realize that the active ingredients break down. I like it because it does not make my face break out and it does not feel greasy. I also use Retrinal (a nonprescription retionoid) at night, but it does not seem to be doing much, so I will switch to a prescription (Renova or Retin-A) when I go in again next month. She also recommended something like what you are using, munchkin. It’s called C E Ferulic - kind of a nasty-smelling oil, but it works wonders. I use it some mornings.

^ I want to clarify about sunscreens - I read Parsol (very popular ingredient) is unstable. Physical sunscreens that contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide is stable.

Sunscreens that contain Meroxyl or Tinosorb (only available in Europeans sunscreens) are not unstable. That’s what I read anyway.

I use Cetaphil. It has sunscreen in it and feels light on my face.
Sounds silly but I find I’m way more likely to use it every day if I buy the pump bottle.
It’s just so much easier.
