6 yr old boy in balloon...so scary

I think listening to callers on talk radio here in VA, most of them say they should be charged, like people are by the Coast Guard for a rescue. The county came out yesterday and said they won’t charge them, but I wonder if the Sheriff gets enough angry phone calls they will change their mind. Plus, I may be incorrect, but wasn’t it 2 counties, plus the military. Which means these 2 sources might still charge them. I hope they do, not because I believe it was a hoax, but because the parents were irresponsible for even leaving that out there for the kids to play with it. This of course goes back to the belief of not punishing the children, which makes me wonder if they ever discussed with the kids that it was not a toy to be played with…doubt it from the wife swap episode.

And yes, they were on The Today Show this morning. The nice touch was the 6 yo hurling live for the nation, in living color.

The whole thing is indeed hinky.

^^^^ What???!!!

I was giving this family the benefit of the doubt…yesterday.

Something smells.

They should reimurse the government for the expanses.

I guess the authorities want to speak to the family again after the boy made remarks about doing it “for the show”.

Something smells…gee, could it be the vomit from the little boy TWICE this morning on national t.v.?

These parents are stupid at the least, dangerous at the worst.

He actually puked twice. Once on GMA and Diane Sawyer had to tell the parents it was okay to go help their son! Then he did it live on the Today show!
They are psycho.

Were they in NY or a satellite feed?

My first thought is the mom gave the kid ipecac to avoid having him answer uncomfortable questions.

Sorry, but I really CAN’T help being suspicious.

I am listening to Joe and Mika and they stated that the family called 3 times to get on and Morning Joe producers denied them each and everytime. Good for them!

Nancy Sneiderman said it the best the parents are narcissistic, because they were on Larry King last night because any parent with comment sense, would have come out give the original press conference and then go back in the home and open a bottle of Jack Daniels and curl up in a ball crying, not due the national press circuit.

I am with Nancy, social services should get involved. I didn’t see the interview, but they are saying the child went off to vomit and the parents continued with the interview. What mother of a 6 yo isn’t sitting there in the bathroom rubbing their back as they are over the toilet? They are also saying that the kids sleep in their clothes in case they may have to wake up in the middle of the night to chase storms? G*d I hope that is not true and just exaggeration.

The cost for this rescue has been estimated at 2 million!

I really really wish that once the boy had been found, every shred of the media would have gone home and not given the family a second more of air time.

Actually, I disagree to a point, if the facts surfacing now are true, than I am glad the media got involved, because if it is true, I believe the parents need intervention and be required to attend parenting classes…what’s next, they chase a tornado and one of them are truly injured?

Maybe they can join up with Jon & Kate and start a new show about dysfunctional families. TLC will probably be calling them today!

Watch…the next part of this news story will be that the sheriff will announce that they are now involved for death threats, costing the county even more money.

It is unfortunate that is seems as if exploiting your children on television is now a way to make a living. Who watches all that stuff anyway?

Rutro REORGE, the police are questioning the family to make sure it was not a hoax.

I just glanced at the noon news and I thought they showed a video of the dad launching that balloon yesterday. Has anyone else seen that footage?

Good for them for not putting them on.

I agree - very strange.

The youtube video has a word in the title that they wouldn’t say on TV. Sickening.

Message to the kids: Hang in there, life will improve when you can get out on your own.
