690 AP exam scores tossed out at Trabuco Hills High

The Los Angeles Times has a brief notice this morning that 300 students at Trabuco Hills HS have had their scores on the AP Stats Exam nullified by the College Board because “a number of students” had cheated (presumably not all 300). According to the article, the school also failed to follow proper test-taking guidelines. So the students “have to retake” their exam…

this sounds like that movie where the kids had to retake the ap calc test because they all did so well - What’s the movie called again

agh what is that movie called… where the teacher comes into a really underacheiving class and teaches them advanced math but then no one believes that they actually did that well

stand and deliver.

Yea it was only 10 students that cheated. And apparently the school didn’t have the correct number of proctors and the right seating arrangement. So they have to retake ALL the AP exams there. And I think they have to take it during summer or something horrid like that. And the school district is paying for all the tests(and you know how expensive that is).

How do I know? I live close to the school and have friends there and have seen enough articles on it. Actually its like 15 minutes away from Tesoro High School where those two kids broke in and changed their grades and stole tests and then got arrested on the last day of school(and that would be my school). :p

LOL we watched Stand and Deliver in Spanish class…

“The ETS investigation was sparked in May, after school officials learned some students might have cheated on the AP statistics exam. Ten seniors were found guilty of cheating on their AP statistics and macroeconomics exams – six via cell phone text messaging, Sullivan said.”

why cheat on such an easy exam…

Hey, I got a 4 on stats without studying! Don’t call it easy!

My friend’s score was unavailable… I hope she doesn’t have to retake it, she’ll be ****ed.

It is an easy exam; I got a 5 without studying one bit. :P

That would completely suck to have to restudy for AP exams during the summer. Especially if you’ve forgotten everything…

My teacher gave us a mock-test (not for a grade) 2 weeks after the APs. Frankly, I was rather surprised that I had forgotten most of the stuff.

you’re being sarcastic, no? I got a 5 and only studied for a month.

How horrible!

I hardly think it’s fair to throw out everyone’s scores from that school. Why can’t they just cancel the cheaters’ scores? That’s just over the top.

lol @ cheating on Stats and macro. Those two exams are pretty easy tbh…

They had to throw out all the scores-- the school was basically doing nothing to stop people from cheating. They know about the cheating in stats and macro, but there’s no particular reason to believe that students weren’t cheating on all the other tests.

Sucks for the honest students. Did you notice the cheater who posted on the comment thread complaining that it’s all the fault of the person who snitched on them? Way to take responsibility for your own actions, you whining sniveling crybaby.

my school had to retake the AP English this year :frowning:
the proctor they assigned had a really heavy cuban/dominican-ish accent and so one of the students got fed up, snatched the directions from his hands, and read them in his place. CB found out and everyone had to make-up their test. I think it was done in the same week though…

I believe the article also talked about the school’s inability to meet the testing protocol, which probably didn’t help trying to salvage any of the scores.
So don’t just blame the cheaters.

As a student of Trabuco Hills, the worst part is that College Board has given us a chance to take these tests again, but only on one particular day in mid-August. Myself and many others have prior obligations scheduled for that week and will either have to receive our refunds or cancel our college registrations, camps, vacations, etc.
