7th grade SAT and ACT scores

My son’s results so far:

ACT
7th grade: 21
8th grade: 25

SAT:
7th grade: Math 620, CR: 420, WI: 400 (essay 6)
8th grade: Math 700, CR: 490, WI: 520 (essay 8)

He is in 9th grade this year and will be taking SATs on March 10th and ACT in April. He expects a huge jump in CR and WI scores and hopes not to make stupid mistakes on Math portion. He did not start preparing for ACT yet.

I am only in 7th grade, so I don’t know if I did well or not, does anyone care to tell me?
Anyways, I didn’t take the writing test, so I don’t have a score for that. My scores were:

Composite:23
English:21
Mathematics:17
Reading:32
Science:20

Since the total scored are out of 36 possible, I don’t really think I did so well, but I am not in 7th grade and I only studied for about 5 minutes, so I have an excuse, but I proabably should’ve studied. Also, apparently, I am eligible for taking 1st year college courses for English and reading. Bragging material right there.

The funny thing is, alot of the math questions involved equations solving inequalities, which we learned in math THE DAY AFTER I took the ACT test. Dang math curriculum.

I got a 1230 in 7th grad  Just got a 2240 on my JR year SAT and feel like I can get a 2300+ on my next retake. By no means is your initial testing a predictor of what you will do in the future. In my opinion if you are a naturally somewhat intelligent person with enough effort you can break 2100. I remember my first time I got tired of sitting for 5 hours so I guessed on half the questions out of frustration.

Daughter took SAT and ACT this year - 6th grade

If a 7th grade student takes the SAT, does that mean that all the SAT syllabus would have been taught in American schools by that grade?

My son will take it as part of CTY JHU but had to do a lot of self study as many topics are still not taught at this age in our country.

Did the high SAT scores help the students from Grade 7 outshine others academically during applications to top high schools? or do the high schools only look at the relevant standard SSAT?

7th: 660M, 600R, 540 W =1800 e=7
8th: 750m, 710r, 670 w= 2130 e=6 :frowning:
the test in 8th was done before 13 th Birthday

No, they haven’t been taught by that age. A lot of American schools, unfortunately don’t teach it by 12th!! It is only used for gifted. I thought it was sad the my son scored better than 68 percent of the high school seniors on the reading. And 51 percent on the math!! My son is not gifted. I justs actually taught him things…

in 7th grade
570r/570w/670m - 8e —>1810

in 8th grade
600r/670w/720m - 9e —>1990

my son’s score in 7th grade (June 2011)
r: 520
w: 530
m: 650

he just took the June 2012 ACT just so we could see which test he’d naturally do better on.

7th grade - 710CR 670M 630W
8th grade - 800CR 800M 720W

7th: C: 28 M: 25 E: 28 R: 29 S: 30

ha, don’t worry- the high school SENIOR average is a 21… and with studying, you can add a ton of points, trust me :)

6th grade SAT: 650 cr, 600 m, 630 w.
6th grade ACT: 36 E (I was so happy when I saw my score report) 27 M, 33 W, 25 S, 30 composite
7th grade SAT: 700 cr, 730 m, 680 w. I got into SET because I took it a few days before my birthday.
7th grade ACT: 33 E, 33 W, 30 composite (sorry, don’t remember the others)
Might not be exactly what you’re looking for, but all these are official. I just seem to do well on tests.

7th Grade:
ACT- C29 (31E, 34M, 27R, 24S) It all went fine but my science was relatively low.
SAT- CR/610 M/730 W/790 (MC: 79 E: 9) Total: 2130 The writing was kind of an unusual surprise.

9th Grade PSAT: CR/71 M/78 W/80
10th Grade PSAT: CR/77 M/80 W/80

8th grade SAT (January): 790 CR 800 Math 780 Writing (2370)

u jelly? ;)

update from prior post: 8th grade SAT (Jan): 770, 710, 760
Did better on the Feb act- e36, m31, r36, s29
Wondering… is the statistical data still being collected? or is this turning into a brag thread?

In 8th grade I got a 23 on my ACT (I had taken algebra and was in the process of taking geometry).

Now, as a junior, I got a 34 composite. Math was the only reason I didn’t get a 35 (I’m blaming it on the fact that algebra and geometry were so long ago for me). This was without any preparation, so I should be able to raise my 29 in math…

For the ACT I personally don’t think you need that much specific preparation, maybe just take a few practice tests to get the feel. I got a 36 in English and reading, and I would attribute that to reading a lot of books. I did pre-AP English in 9th and 10th grade, but did not go the AP route in 11th. All of the ACT level grammar is pretty basic anyways. As long as you challenge yourself in school and read a lot, I think most of the ACT material is stuff you just gradually learn in school (unlike SAT vocab).

My daughter:

7th grade: SAT CR: 590, Math: 480, W: 560. total: 1630
8th grade: SAT CR: 580, Math: 610, W: 690. Total: 1880
9th grade: PSAT: CR: 72, Math: 72, W: 68. Total: 212, equivalent to about 2120 SAT.

If the trend continues, next time she takes SAT it should be around 2360. look luck.
