Would it look more impressive (or just rare) for a girl to get an 800M than for a guy?

Comparatively, yes. A female applicant with a 800M does look better than a male applicant with the same score. But don’t count on it too much, the SAT score, math section in particular, is not overly significant in the admission process. The scenario you raised may only be crucial when comparing one male and one female applicant with extremely similar stats, in which case the famale would actually have an edge.

Would that be basic SAT or Sat Math Subject test or the SAT Math Subject test 2 C?

So how about an additional 800 for a girl on the Math Subject 2 test?

I meant 800 on SAT I but I suppose it could be applied to SAT II as well, though I’m not sure I’m planning on taking that one.

darn, I got 750’s on both MathII and SAT Math as a girl XD

Good luck in your applications.

I thought you meant 800m dash…

^Haha, same. I was about to be like, “let’s compare times!”

wow people
does it even matter lol?

bahahaha I love the 800M dash - that’s what I thought of first too when I saw this thread
and it depends on the college, but honestly, I don’t really think it matters whether you get a 750 or 800 on math/reading/writing. ^^ all are impressive.

800 is a big one, especially for women.
The way it is.

"and it depends on the college, but honestly, I don’t really think it matters whether you get a 750 or 800 on math/reading/writing. ^^ all are impressive. "

exactly lol

lmao so now I wish I’m a girl because I score perfect on the SAT2 m and ACT math?

Most top schools seriously get so many 800’s they won’t care at all if you are a boy or girl. There are actually more girls than boys on college campuses.

I came in because I’m female who got 800M LOL…

btw, I can’t see why girl with 800M would be more impressive than a guy with 800M.

^Because it’s significantly more rare.

"^Because it’s significantly more rare. "

lol not true at all, esp. at the top schools, where everyone has 800 on everything

Lol…not true. 6928 males scored a perfect 800M and 3124 girls achieved the same score. That’s about half. So that would mean that if top schools are looking for girls with 800M I would have a higher probability of being accepted than a guy because fewer girls achieve that score.

*6928 males scored a perfect 800M and 3124 girls achieved the same score. That’s about half. *

That means less than 1/3 of 800M are girls.

Raiderade meant that the number of females who score 800M is about half the number of men.
