Having a kid in each, I am ignoring this, lol. It’s sure to spark hours of bickering!

Oh no that was not my intention…just was hoping to inspire…

I know Bisouu. Just kidding.

Ha! I also have a business management major and a drama major graduating at the same time in spring 2014. (Not twins however. Just at different stages of their lives.) My business guy is a pretty non-typical personality for a business major and my drama & MT major is not really typical of his either. Hard to explain, but they are very simpatico in their views of the future. Business is business.

Elder brother is the biggest fan of his actor brother and would do anything to support his career. Perhaps a future talent manager? Ha, who knows. The skills from each major are significant; they are more trade oriented than not, in my opinion. Elder son says his business class colleagues do not always work hard enough and need more focus; his younger brother worries he won’t have the business skills to make the right decisions in the entertainment business without guidance.

I think they should team up. But I’m their mom, natch.

Curious.

great article. My son has already discussed #4 with me(reading the audience) and this article confirms my thoughts on a theater degree. I can see him picking up some of the other skills already too and 4 more years of acting will help refine them even more. That being said, if a theatre student can pick up some marketing classes to learn to market themselves better in the post college world and other business classes on how to run a tiny business on a shoestring and keep proper documentation on business expenses, those would be helpful as they will have periods of self employment post graduation. and i mean only look at those classes if time. Some of those basic business classes, as needed, should be available at community colleges after they graduate too.
