OMG, that made me laugh out loud too-I had to read it to my husband and he chuckled as well!
I worked out at home this AM. Not planning to go to the gym for a while.
Will have a chatty phone call with a friend later today.
I have to lay a rug down in my bedroom. Requires lifting, one at a time, the two legs at the foot of the bed. I think I can do it.
Except for working out at home, not that different than another day. That’s the advantage of being retired!
Yesterday was a pretty normal and boring Sunday for me except (1) I watched the debate, (2) advised son to go out and get groceries, darn it, and (3) warned off a neighbor.
Well, actually, what happened was my husband was working in the yard and left the gate to the alley open. A bored 72 year old neighbor wandered into the yard to chat with him (they normally chat in the alley; the extent of their relationship). He didn’t move away when my husband came near to toss clippings.
I wanted to run out swinging a cowbell and shouting, “Unclean! Unclean!” Instead I jokingly (not really) called out, “Stay six feet away from or I’ll have to stay six feet away from him.” Neighbor laughed but did maintain more distance.
Also, here’s a fun and useful list of things to do while homebound: https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/health-wellness/2020/03/16/coronavirus-quarantine-100-things-do-while-trapped-inside/5054632002/
@Marilyn “‘Unclean! Unclean!’” – Love it!!!
So I need to read more Middlemarch. Posting here for accountability.
@HouseChatte - I need to read more too! I like your idea of posting for accountability.
I’m feeling slothful, AND anxious. Great combination. On my list for today: get out of my pajamas and into clothes, Wash face, brush teeth, fold and put away laundry, read a book, walk the dog, talk to DD, DS on facetime, cut up a melon, check my financial accounts (bad idea, I know! But I’m curious how much they have decreased.) watch season 4 of The Good Place on NBC streaming, play some ukulele, pay some bills. Wow! That sounds busy. FIrst I have to sit on the couch for another hour and read CC…
I called my PCP and asked for a prescription for Lorazepam. I heard I’m not the only one.
I just went to pick it up. Line for drive thru at a CVS was about 20 minutes long.
I feel better just knowing I have it if necessary.
I also stopped reading the big CV thread. It was making me feel very anxious.
@anxiousmom we are catching up on “The Good Place” too, having completely forgotten that the last few episodes were on in January. Saw the first episode of “West World” last night. I’m extra confused since I could not keep my eyes open.
Just cut up and rinsed a couple of leeks for soup. Rooting in the freezer for the chicken I meant to take out yesterday!
Was hoping to make a big crock pot of chili to last us a few days but every single store around here is sold out of 93% lean ground beef. Heck, I would have even gone for the stuff in the 80’s at this point but none to be had. Last night, Sudbury Farms had big tarps pulled down over all of their meat sections showing they were sold out. This was beef, chicken and pork. Only a couple of steaks left. It was a little scary.
My friend just got back from one of our big markets (Shop Rite) They had everything but tp, paper towels, hand sanitizer. Said it wasn’t even crowed at all.
Found a better online yoga instruction. I like it better than the first two - but still would like more stretching moves.
The breathing was great though. Something I really need right now to help me chill.
It’s for beginners and but It still worked for me.
If anyone is interested:
It’s 40 minutes.

Maybe we need to take a road trip to your area to grocery shop! The Boston suburbs have gone nuts! I’m so jealous that you are only out of paper and sanitizing products.
Here, no beans, no pasta, no eggs and no fresh meat except for $$$ steaks.
I miss Texas…
I’m in Albany area.
I know markets were jammed Friday and over the weekend. All our 24hr markets are closing at midnight and opening at 6 am to restock and sanitize.
My main market (Price Chopper) is headquartered here and has a massive distribution center here, too.
My kid is in Boston and he sent me pics of empty cases and shelves last week.
Teenager: Can I go to my buddy’s house?
Me: What are you going to do there, play XBox?
Teenager: Probably.
Me: Don’t you do better when you play together remotely?
(In the past, he’s rushed home to his game set because they were losing due to bandwidth capacity at buddy’s house.)
Teenager: Yeah. You want me to stay home?
Me: Yes please, thanks for offering. You’ve made me very happy!
It felt good to get out for a walk today. Passed some parents with kids out of school, joggers.
An unexpected plus this morning was being able to video chat with S1, GD and GS. Normally on a Mon morning, he’d be at work and the kids at daycare, but he and DIL are working from home and decided to keep the kids home too.
DH went to the gym this morning, but by this afternoon decided that he won’t be going again. Yay!
Leaving now for Albany… lol!
FaceTime Happy Hour with friends was a success. We had a little trouble figuring out how to do the group thing but somehow we did it.
H and I went to a big park yesterday with our dog. It was a beautiful day, but a little hard to enjoy. Oak tree pollen is at it’s peak, and our shoes turned green with the dust. Little poodle looked like bad velcro!
Worst of all was the way people generally hurried by each other without any greetings. That’s not normal here. No dogs allowed to touch noses or sniff. I know it’s logical and good for safety, but I worry about it leading to a permanent public frostiness between strangers.
Today I baked brownies with a mix that was “best by” some date in 2016 (they were delicious). Far from hoarding, I want to use this time to clear out some old stuff from my pantry!
I’m in the “Middlemarch is my favorite book” crowd, but it’s been a few years, so I am reading again. Just started last night. I have a lot of schoolwork to do, so it’s going slow, and I know the book well! Got a new clean copy to make myself underline and pay attention.
If it helps, once the characters are all introduced and set up, it moves faster. I do love all Eliot’s observations on human nature, but the wording is 19th century and admittedly can be dense.
Challenge for U2 fans–there’s a passage somewhere in the book that Bono quotes in a song.
