A few questions about UCLA Admissions

I have a few questions

Could I apply to UCLA and major in something then try to switch to Film Production for sophomore year?

I’m taking my 3rd ACT on December 14th to get a better score, would UCLA still consider my application if I send my ACT scores near the end of December?

What do the UC’s look for in an applicant mostly? Would a great personal statement/essay and EC’s rule over an okay ACT score?

How are the girls?

Curious what your ACT scores are like, do you mind sharing?

Well, they’re pretty bad, I didn’t really get good sleep or any practice in either but the composite was 23. =/ embarrassing.

Bump…

Bump. .

Omg… Bump

1) It’s difficult in general to switch between two schools (e.g. College of Letters and Science -> HSSEAS) because you need to get the approval of both schools, apply again, etc. I believe it’s even harder to switch into the Theater, Film, and TV School, but you can always try.

2) UCs accept scores from tests taken up to Dec., so don’t worry.

3) Depends HOW superior your ECs and PS are in comparison to your ACT score. A 23 is quite on the low end for UCs, but at least you’re retaking in Dec. A lot of it will come down to your GPA.

4) LOL. From what I’ve seen and what I’ve heard, you won’t be disappointed.

UC’s take December ACT scores, but if you can’t get your ACT 30+, you should consider going to CC first even if your GPA is high. 23 is too low for most UC’s, unless you’re an Academy Award winning actor/actress applying to the film school.

Thank you, I appreciate your replies. I’ll try to get the score up to a 30. And my GPA is only average, 3.58 UW, 3.9 W, nothing special.

from my understanding UCLA does not accept freshman in film production. Every year the film department accepts 30 students.

15 of them will be selected from a pool of UCLA students (they apply in sophmore year)

15 of them will be selected outside UCLA (mainly other UC’s and community colleges)

So hundreds of people will submit applications, out those 60 will be selected for interviews (30 from UCLA 30 from outside UCLA). the emphasis is on your portfolio. out the 60 interviews they narrow it down to 30 based on the interviews.

Dagoberto, UCLA announced a new 4 year film program this year.
