A levels required for NYU, Michigan

Hi guys do you know the A level results required for NYU, Michigan? and i did 4 APs (three 5s and one 4) to augment my A levels…does that help?

Why don’t you check their websites? And if there is no specific information, you should email them.

But yes, the APs do help.

Hey! I also have A levels in my country and the same problem of the school crunching our grades is there! I am not sure if I should apply privately to the universities or they require you to apply from school only!

Michigan asks for a distinction in GCSE English and it says a “D” for A Level subjects and a “C” if you want to take engineering. My take is that they would need way more than that though, it seems pretty low for a good school.

Basically I want to apply to NYU and wanted to know if I could apply privately!

Both NYU and Michigan accept A-levels for admission, but they don’t require any particular results or grades or combination of subjects. Applications are evaluated holistically and deficits in one area can be offset by strengths in another.

Is it necessary that one has to apply through their high school?

Of course you have to apply through your school! You have to get transcripts, recs, school profiles, predicted grades and everything else sent from your school; if you send it from your home it is not valid. These docs have to be signed and stamped by school officials too.

And what if I intend to apply after my A levels at that time we are out of school!

You will still need letters of recommendation and a school report.

that’s not true. a couple of friends of mine applied to schools as private candidates. they sent in their transcripts + recommendations letters on their own. as long as everything is signed and sealed in their respective envelopes, i don’t think the schools really care about who sends them.

on the other hand, i’ve heard of JCs in singapore that insist on sending all of a student’s transcripts + recommendations directly to the universities. so, ymmv.

thanks  it is great if we can apply privately !

Just out of curiosity, what do you mean when you say “apply privately”?

I assume everything comes from your email as privately

i think he/she means applying and sending everything by himself/herself rather than having a school do it.
