I must apologize for the tendency in the Fencers Household toward, shall I admit it: non-diversity. True, despite the 8 different religions among my 7 sibs and moi, despite the 3 differing races among these same sibs + spouses, despite the fact that my DH IS FRENCH, we do suffer completely from… intolerance.

And, if you have any snake handlers in YOUR family, I suggest you move away right away. They are not fun to have around your Flag Day picnic table.

And who are YOU to take me to task just because I lack an affinity for snakehandling preachers (who happened to be in their mid-30’s when they ran off with my 18 y.o. sis, who had the baby 4 months later.?)

Here’s a true story:
When I was 9, this sis of mine (mentioned above, and for reference, Marie), got married to S.N. Preacher in Feb. and had her baby June 18th. Well, I thought I had just learned in 4th grade science that it took 9 months to have a baby. So, I asked our Polish neighbor, who was babysitting us while my parents went to see the new grandkid, “Olga, I thought it took 9 months to have a baby?! What gives here with Marie, she took only 4 months to have Lil Nephew.”

Olga, a woman of wisdom, sat down with her beer, and patiently replied, “Honya, first babies can come any time, any time at all. Second babies always take nine months.” This fine nugget of wisdom held me over for about 2 years until Debbie Leonard filled me in on the real goods out behind the barn.

(Nice use of italics there, huh, GreyDad? You, too, can learn these fun techniques.)
