A Meta-thread to save us all time

Free porridge! yum, yum

Marite, nothing was wrong with your posts…I was confused about which hooks had been covered.

Not to stray too far from the Right Path… is there a Gap Year option? And what about taking it before eighth grade?

Can I take a gap year? I’m tired of my job. If I say I’m taking a Gap year to find myself, will someone give me financial aid to wander around Europe with a backpack… better yet, to wander around Europe staying in 4-star hotels? I promise to come back more well-rounded, more of a world-citizen, more enlightened… probably more in the weight department as well, but that’s not important.

But really, what kind of wine goes best with porridge?

Lafalum, can I come too? Maybe we can get corporate sponsorship. You know, your gap year, brought to you by the Gap?

Lafalum and Harriet-
Quick sidebar before returning to our daily silliness. If you had gone to Vassar, you WOULD be eligible to apply for a $40,000 one year “time out” (gap year) grant [AAVC: Career Center: Time-Out Grant](http://www.aavc.vassar.edu/career/time_out.html#) available to

HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!?!?!?!?!

Ok, sorry for the momentary lapse in judgement to report something serious. Back to outrage and frivolity.
And, by the way Harriet, we all know that the wine that goes with porridge is BEARinger.

Hey, I wanna be a Vassar alum–I need someone to help finance my Great American Novel.

So, is there any way to change one’s alumni status? Is there some box somewhere i can check to change that, like going ED to RD, or FA to not? It shoudln’t be hard, right?

Yup, VAssar alumna, that’s the pathway for me!

Have your parents call and yell at the Dean, garland.

Oh of course! <slaps forehead=“”>. How obvious. I’ll have them threaten to withhold all further donations till they give in.</slaps>

that should do it.

Of course, that 40th birthday business will have to be fudged, too. :D

No Harriet, its for all old buzzards 40 and over. So be sure to sound like your granny Matilde when you yell at the dean

My granny wouldn’t have gone to Vassar on a bet. It was full of Yankee bluestockings. :D

She liked to yell, though. Maybe I can channel her.

If she knew they would pay her $40k to sit on her posterior and come up with a new and better way to make moonshine without risking the lead poisoning, I’ll bet my bluestockings she’d have been there in a heartbeat, Harriet.

Lead poisoning, huh? From the still?

I’m thinking this explains a lot.

Yes, Harriet. They teach the green, environmentally sound way of distilling moonshine without use of an old, rusty Model T radiator at Vassar. I am not sure if it is taught in the chem dept or the history dept though. Might be an interdepartmental course.

Maybe we could turn it into our group meta-thread gap year project.

And it could supply essay fodder for all of our kids. I hear the adcoms love “I Was Chased by the Revenooers” essays.

If we’re Vassar alum, shouldn’t we already know how to distill moonshine in an environmentally friendly manner? I still wanna backpack around Europe. Maybe we can pay our way by selling moonshine as we go. We could call it a marketing project.

Or we could just whine until our parents pay our way… after all, we’re their kids, aren’t they supposed to fund our “education?”

Lafalum, as I mentioned in #1113, its an interdepartmental course. We can get Vassar to fund our research for our senior “international home-brewed spirits comparison” as a study-abroad program.

I think funds from the presbyopi-prospies project will at least pay our airfare, and then we can sell moonshine as we travel. The Vassar grants will cover the supplies for the still, and the film we’ll be making of our trip.

NOW you’re thinking, Harriet. I guess grandma Matilde didn’t slip you a tetch of her moonshine in your OJ too often!

It was the Jell-o Juleps, jym.

You and grandma doin’ jello shooters out by the barn… loving the visual…

Think she should mix up a brew for the prospy-opiates and student stooges?
