Seriously though the many tips seem logical. I’ve wondered about whether storing so much info on my phone, very handy method, makes me less sharp. Of course there are LOTS more things to remember these days, says the lady who has been stashing lots of stuff into contact list Notes (today’s example, marriot rewards id/password).
I can’t get past the paywall; can you share the name of the book? Sorry, I just realized this is 2 years old! I’m not sure why it popped up as a new thread.
The author of more than 20 books on the mind, Dr. Restak has decades’ worth of experience in guiding patients with memory problems. “The Complete Guide to Memory: The Science of Strengthening Your Mind,” Dr. Restak’s latest book, includes tools such as mental exercises, sleep habits and diet that can help boost memory.
I never saw this thread the first time it came around. My Dad had Alzheimer’s and lost his short term memory completely, but he continued to be amiable and easy to talk to. My mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s but didn’t actually seem to have a normal case. She had a lot of visual hallucinations, but was (almost) completely aware that they were illusions. In her last months she had trouble following movies.
I’ve always preferred fiction which I thought was a bad thing! I have noticed that relying on GPS isn’t good. I still have a good sense of direction. I was never good at chess though, I can’t think ahead like that in space. I was okay at bridge when it’s just a matter of keeping track of cards.
