Da Birds! Everybody should know by now to never count them out when theyâre underdogs!
The Bears kickerâs career with Bears is probably over.
That kicker has been horrible all season. Been saying for weeks that he was going to cost them a big game
I told my son before the game it was going to come down to 10 seconds and a Parker kick and we both looked at each other and said âNooooâ!.
The crowd was like in disbelief.
Parker has to much money left to get rid of him. But honestly⊠Who hits the upright pole like 5 times in a season?
Holy cow! What a weekend!
Parkey, not Parker
Whatever⊠Iâm pissed. Canât believe we have him for another season
And we got rid of Robbie Gould for what reason?
Re: missed field goal in Chicago/Philly game:
Okay, now Iâm reading that the ball was tipped by an Eagles defender on the last field goal attempt.
Seems to me the vitriol going his way is misplaced. Yes, heâs missed other field goals, but at the same time, he did make 3, and at some point maybe the defense and offense might also be held accountable?
^^Agree! Lay off the guy! Lifelong Chicagoan here and I say the Bears had a better season than was expected. Time to move on!
Ugh, that kick! Iâm sure he feels worst than all of us combined. But yeah, they played great most of the season, so time to move on. Thereâs always next year.
I felt really bad, mostly because my kid was so sad for so long even though he has nothing to do with Chicago. I myself as a Chicagoan my first 21 years of my life have been through worse - 1971 Stanley Cup Game 7 loss to Montreal and the 1979/1980/1981 NCAA losses by DePaul still top this one. This one feels more like the Bulls Game 7 loss to Detroit in 1990, where it felt like next year would be the year after drowning in my sorrows for a couple of hours.
Feel bad for Parkey? Yes. However, heâs done. A professional kicker cannot miss that many field goals in a season. When youâre a professional athlete â making 3â doesnât cut it.
^ âYou have one jobâ lol. GO PATRIOTS!
I was pretty certain the Eagles would win- but did not predict that finish! Iâm thrilled they are moving on, but not optimistic about the next game.
OK
Now that I had to chance to sleep on this. Mr. Parkey missed 11 kicks (extra points and field goals) total this season with â6â hitting the uprights according to a Chicago Tribune article I just read. Ouch! Great party trick but not for a NFL kicker. This all hurt more since I bought tickets to go with my son at the last minuteâŠ
But⊠In true CC fashion⊠It was absolutely one of the best ways I could of spent with my son before he goes back to college tomorrow. We had a ball and the crowd was very crazy and loud. So that trumps the loss. Of course⊠Next year also. It was sorta a magical season and if it hit the upright and went in, that would of been amazing!
So happy that my sisterâs husband and kids got to see the Coltsâ win in person. It was a wonderful day for them.
And the two QBs from my high school will be playing each other! Drew and Nick. Iâm not sure whom to root for.
Itâs being reported that Mr. Parkeyâs kick was touched and deflected so although it doesnât help, I hope that Bears fans are realizing that itâs wasnât all the kickers fault.
It certainly wasnât! Where was the Bears defense when it let Philly march down the field at the end of the game and score the winning touchdown? Where was the offense, who apparently was satisfied to demand that its kicker completely carry the game, expecting him to score 12 of their hoped for 18 points? How is a kicker expected to overcome having his kick tipped after he has made a good effort, knowing that deflection completely changes the trajectory?
Itâs certainly logical to assess this guyâs performance on the whole, but to blame him for that loss is ridiculous and patently unfair. Of course a kickerâs job is to make good kicks, but itâs also the defenseâs job to prevent touchdowns and the offenseâs job to score touchdowns and not expect one individual to carry the majority of the burden and blame for the teamâs failures.
I hate Hate HATE the âice the kickerâ last second time-out. IMO itâs unsportsman-like.
Itâs an abuse (and unintended consequence) of the ability of coaches to call a time-out from the sidelines, IMO, which they got 10 or 12 years ago. It should be banned, not least so the official over there can focus on the play and not have to be splitting his attention on the coach who may or may not call a time-out.
- Scott Norwood. Perfectly fine kicker from 45 yards in. Never played in the NFL again after missing from 47 as time expired in the Bills-Giants Superbowl.
- Last night's game was like an allegory of the entire Eagles season. Sometimes they look great, sometimes they look terrible. When the special teams and defense had to perform to lock the game up, they didn't . . . but they didn't totally collapse, either. And somehow in the end the other guys made enough mistakes to let the Eagles keep playing, barely. Doink, Eagles, doink!
