I qualify for the stimulus check. But the IRS would not have my bank information because whenever I get a refund, I just apply it to my quarterly estimated taxes as a self employed individual. So, for ten days, I daily tried to enter the information to get my stimulus check direct deposited, rather than perhaps waiting a very long time to get a paper check. Frustratingly, every time I entered my information for direct deposit, which included having to enter the adjusted gross income and amount of either money owed or refunded on my 2019 taxes, which I filed in late February, I would get a window that said my information didn’t match what they had on file. I then would try using my 2018 tax information, with the same result. For 2018, I owed money. For 2019, I got a refund, but applied it to my estimated taxes for 2020.
The past few days, I had given up even trying. I saw a post here from a day or two ago that someone who also applied their 2019 refund to their 2020 payments, entered 0 for the refund amount. So, I tried that! And for good measure, this time on my address, I didn’t use “Apt” at all and only entered the apartment number after the street address. VOILA…it worked! Says my check will be direct deposited. Not sure when though. THANKS CCers!
Wouldn’t it be nice if when they say enter address as shown on tax return they actually meant that ? crazy we have to try all these variations of our addresses to make this work.
I still don’t have a date, but as long as it took my direct deposit info, I can wait. As my mother’s date shows this Wednesday, I will be interested to see if it really gets deposited on that date; if so, I will have more faith in the system!
My excitement for the day is due to my furlough, my company applied for unemployment for all of us since we can’t work from home. I have informed delivery and see my unemployment debit card is there! After this, it should be a direct deposit. My bank does not think they can use this to transfer the funds to my account, but they said they would try as I am not interested in using this as a debit card. There are specific ATM’s where you can remove money without a fee, but they are not at places I go, and I can not imagine I can remove the entire funds in one withdrawal as it is two weeks pay. So while I don’t have my stimulus money, at least some money is coming in.
@kosterbelle Is it feasible for you to share a small portion of your check with your son?
My kiddo made 15k last year when she was in HS doing tutoring and her rock climbing job. She filed taxes but we also claimed her as a dependent. Although we aren’t qualified for the stimulus $$, we cut her a check anyway, because as you said, we probably saved thousands on our taxes b/c we claimed her.
On the WaPo website this morning I saw an article about problems with stimulus checks. One thing that may apply to those of us who were recently able to enter bank info but have no date for the deposit is that the article said deposit date info will be updated on Sat for those of us in this position. I guess we’ll just have to wait to see if that’s accurate.
S got his refund early April. He had filed as an independent in 2018 and had a refund. So, his stimulus check was direct deposited into his account.
D filed in 2018, but had no taxes, no refund. She couldn’t get her status from the site at all - she’d been trying for a few days. I just logged on today and checked and it says her check is scheduled to be mailed out on May 1st. I guess she could enter bank info - but at this point, it’s not a big deal. She’ll just wait for the paper check.
Haven’t bothered to check ours - we won’t qualify.
I just checked for my mother. She filed in 2018 and applied her refund to her estimated taxes but has not yet filed for 2019. The initial info was accepted and I got the “you are eligible for a stimulus payment” page. She gets her SS direct deposited but to receive her payment based on her tax return I had to input the dd info, which I was able to do successfully after I change her refund amount to 0. Now we’ll wait to see when she gets a deposit date.
@CottonTales on his tax return there is a box where his apartment number.
We have been entering his apartment number exactly as it is on the USPS site.
Any other suggestions on how to enter apt #
I just reread your previous posts. Is your only concern that you are just getting the payment status not available notice? If so, that won’t change until he is on the schedule for the next batch of payments, AFAIK.
On a good note, I woke up this morning at 4 a.m. to find my deposit in my account. ?
@bhs1978 For my mother, her apartment number was accepted as 123 Main ST #000. My daughter, while in a rental with two units, was accepts as 123 Main AV #A
And my mother’s was accepted with 1234 Main St. - no apartment number. (multi-floor building). She has her SS direct deposited but applied last year’s refund to estimates and has yet to file in 2019. When I put in her info it said she was eligible and then I was able to add the DD info. Now it says her page will be updated when there’s a payment date.
My mother’s stimulus money was indeed in her account this morning. He page said it was be deposited today, but I didn’t believe it until I actually saw the bank account! Ours still doesn’t show a date, but we were able to get our direct deposit in, so I can be patient.
I keep checking mine every morning. No date yet. I read somewhere (here?) that the next update will be Saturday. But I’m going to check every day just in case. It’s my birthday Saturday. It would be nice to find the $$ in my account that day ?
I think I was the one who mentioned the next update will be on Sat. I’m also waiting, altho still checking my bank acct in case I get a pleasant surprise.
Even though we are all adults and are under the impression the site is updated one a day over night, why is it we insist on checking multiply times a day? I have seen with my own eyes the FAQ that states once a day, but I keep looking as I want to see when my check is due to deposit.
My aunt is waiting for her first unemployment deposit to be made so has been checking the UI site so many time, most likely using an incorrect password, that she got locked out of the account. There is no one to contact with a phone call, so she is going nuts. She also some how got locked out of the debit card that was mailed to her yesterday, so has no idea if she received money today as she can’t get into either sites. Not sure what she did, as I helped her set them both up with many phone calls yesterday. As payment day is Wednesday, and she had no payment last week, I am thinking she received her card in advance of the deposit today. As she is a bit high strung, I am sure she kept entering the wrong user name and/or password to the point she got locked out.
