A question about Caltech Ch E PhD

First a little about me:
I am currently studying Biochemistry at Washington State University.
I am 2 years away from graduation.
I plan to take Transport, Kinetics and Physical Chemistry next year.(I have a good relationship with the ChE Department head here)
I already have Math up through Differential Equations done.
I am looking into joining a research lab on campus relating to Enzymes.
I have just been Diagnosed with ADHD and have currently a 2.5GPA. (I am told because of my previous undiagnosed ADHD by my Doctor)

Now what I would like:
I want to get into Caltech for their Ch E PhD program.
I would like to join the Frances H. Arnold Research Group there.

Now my questions:
Other than raise my GPA, join a Research group What else should I do to make myself more desirable?
What are the chances of getting into that program let alone that research group?

Thank You.

The things which you mentioned have all been addressed at some point in this forum, and you probably already know the answers… If we’re talking chances, it’s really going to be a multiplication of small probability values- and usually the odds turn out to be against you.

I do have one suggestion for you: look around more and expand your interests and research repertoire. It’s usually detrimental (for admissions and life-wise) to be so attached to and insistent upon joining one specific research group. You will indubitably fashion the rest of your application after this ideal that you have developed, and you should think about if that is the image you want to present, especially given the high chance that you will not get what you specifically want.
