A shoe question . . .

But not quite as exciting as the “help me find a shoe to go with this gorgeous dress!”

Many of you have said on other threads that you are a “no shoe” household - no shoe wearing inside.

So what do you wear on your feet in the winter months (for those in colder climates)?? In the summer I am fine barefoot or with an indoor pair of flip flops.

In the winter I have to wear something more than socks to keep my feet warm and to be comfortable on my tile kitchen floor. I work from home some days so I can be sitting in one place for a while.

I have a pair of water resistant clog type shoes I keep by the door to wear outside to take the dogs out or get the mail. I feel like some sort of warm clog style shoe would be good inside.

I don’t want to wear slippers! Or anything that can look like slippers (Ugg style slip ons). Sometimes people will stop by from the office etc and I just don’t feel good wearing that casual a shoe on my feet during the day.

Any suggestions?

I still go barefoot in the winter. I like being barefoot. Husband usually wears socks. You could wear slippers. I think the main thing for me is shoes that have been outside stay outside. So slippers or slipper type shoes that have only been worn inside are okay by me. For your needs, perhaps just get a casual shoe that you feel comfortable with that are only for inside use - a pair of dedicated house shoes.

I think it’s fine to wear shoes in the house, as long as the soles are clean. We take our shoes off at the door, but everyone who wants to wears house shoes or any clean-soled shoes inside. I cannot stand walking around in bare feet or socks, so I always have shoes that I can wear indoors. If I’m visiting someone who doesn’t like street shoes inside, I bring indoor-only clogs.

For Christmas my husband got me a pair of Uggs wool lined slippers that I like a lot. (He made the choice based on feedback from other husbands lists… I’m sure there are cheaper options).

We do not have a “no shoes” rule, but I try to mostly wear socks or slippers. I wish the rest of the family had done the same to save the carepets.

Slippers (got 'em at a ryokan in Japan. They rule.)

I have a pair of slip-on sketchers that I only wear in the house. They are cushiony and comfortable and look like regular shoes.

I wear slippers in the house most of the time. I love my fleece lined slippers (not Uggs -I have them made by Minnetonka and Eddie Bauer brand).
What about wearing something like loafers, that u just slip on. I have some suede ones that would be very comfy to wear indoors.

Daughter gave me a great pair of LLBean moccasins for Christmas and I wear them in the house. They work as slippers AND casual but nice looking shoes. I love them.

I cannot go without shoes - my feet would freeze! In fact, I often have a big fleece zip up jacket of DH’s that I end up putting on over whatever I am wearing. I look ridiculous and I hate looking so sloppy but I hate being cold even more.

@surfcity Toms are pretty comfortable if you like that look.

I live in Asia and my wife and I clean the floor every day (it’s common to sit on the floor, and if you’re sitting on the floor, it’s really gross if there’s hair & crap next to you, where you lean your hand, etc.). TBH it’s almost always warm enough in our apartment (we’re insulated by all the floors above and below us and it’s a new building) to go barefoot, but in the winter I like my leather-soled slippers.

We are a no shoes household. I love love love my ugg slippers! So comfy! I also have slipper socks from Bath and Body Works that I like to wear. My husband loves his ugg slippers as well, he would wear them outside the house if I’d let him  The kids wear either socks or slippers.

I love Ugg Coquette for inside the house in winter!

One year, Costco sold an identical - looking knockoff to the Ugg Coquette for about $30. I should have stocked up since I haven’t seen it since.

I used to walk barefoot, bur now wear my favorite Oofos flipflops. If I feel like I need socks, I pull my Injinjis out of the sock drawer. Mr. wears a slipper made by Ugg - the style is called Scuff. Lol. Cats still walk barefoot.

We are a no shoes household. Our guests usually take their shoes off when they see my Loubitins and Hokas lined up by the front door. But we will force anyone to remove their shoes.

I saw Uggs slippers at Costco.com, if anyone is interested.

^^Yes! Do you remember the price?

@Madison85 - they currently have several different styles on sale for different prices.

Thanks! I looked at the Costco website and couldn’t tell if they were carried in stores or for order only.

Yea, I couldn’t figure that out, either, and I haven’t been in the store this week to see if they’re there.

I prefer slippers and socks for indoors and usually go barefoot in the summer, but in your situation something like this might work: https://www.amazon.com/Bass-Womens-Lucille-Casual-Shoes/dp/B00992L1KS/ref=sr_1_14?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1476015985&sr=1-14&nodeID=679404011&refinements=p_89%3ABass I have a pair of brown Bass loafers that I got a year ago at an outlet store and I wear them without socks. I liked them so much I got another pair in black. They’re discontinued now, but I find the fit of Bass shoes to be very comfortable.
