Nothing better than the Ugg suede loafer to wear as your winter indoor shoe. Your feet will thank you!
My feet get too hot in many slippers, but I am a big fan of Haflinger boiled wool clog slippers. I wear them in the house 3 seasons, usually with wool socks. They have soft soles and ones with harder soles that can be worn outside.
I KNEW this would turn into a “help me find a shoe to go with this pretty dress” thread… CC just can’t resist.
Just how we roll…
Oh thank you for all the links. It looks like Costco has the UGG slipper scuffs for $65 and their own brand for $20.
@walkinghome - thank you for the links. You’re right that maybe I have to think about getting a pair of regular shoes and just reserve them for inside.
I am still scarred by the time a friend stopped by and saw my slipper-like shoes on and pretty much laughed that I was wearing them
Perhaps that is why I am leaning toward more shoe-link items and not slipper looking ones.
I like the idea of the boiled wool clogs too.
Sounds like a problem with the friend and not the slippers.
One winter, I wore black Ugg Coquette slippers to work for 3 months and (almost) no one noticed.
I live where we get a lot of snow in the winter. At parties, people bring their slippers to wear inside. No shame here.
In the house in the winter I usually wear socks and crocs… .pretty comfy and not tracking dirt around from outside. It would be too cold for my feet to walk around much barefoot in our house in the winter, plus I never like to go down to the basement when I do laundry or visit our Costco storage room barefoot any time of the year.
Would I be correct to assume that if you have a no shoe household, you never go outside barefoot?
Many slippers, especially Uggs, have zero arch support. I highly recommend these fleece insoles by Superfeet inside your indoor shoes (I put them in my boots because it is not cold enough here to wear slippers):

“Costco storage room” Sounds like your home is the place to hang out during the next weather disaster or Armaggedon, @bookmama22
You have a point!! I should not have let her in my head so much
(Long back story tho)
Flip flops count as shoes (especially here in Florida). I grew up in Wisconsin going barefoot indoors and out, H in India grew up in India not wearing shoes in the house as well. Our Wisconsin neighborhood was a no indoor shoes one as well- you could tell if kids came in the garage way with son or the front door based on where their shoes were.
Now in Florida. Still remove shoes at the door, put them on to go outside. Flip flops (which I don’t wear- can’t stand anything between my toes) and sliders stay near each of three commonly used doors for going outside. When winter comes wearing foot warming slippers is indoor gear of choice. Many different brands and materials available. I do not understand the ones that are heelless- cold there but warm toes???
“Clean” shoes from outside the house will have all sorts of dirt on them- think bacteria et al. Perhaps working in hospitals we automatically kept our shoes out of household use. Feet are much more comfortable without shoes!
Orthopedic surgeons do not recommend shoes for nonwalking children, btw. Seeing parents who put their babies in shoes in the stores … Most of us do not need arch support for life in our homes either.
People on CC tend to mention upscale brand names. Those are not necessary. It really is a case of “if the shoe (slipper) fits, wear it”. My biggest problem is sizing in women’s footwear. Slippers wear out faster when not quite large enough and the sizing runs small so XL can really be L… The selection of warm slippers is so much better in the north.
Another fan of the Hafflinger wool clog. LL Bean carries similar ones: http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/112639?feat=503422-GN3&page=women-s-l-l-bean-wool-slipper-clog
Ugg Ansley. An indoor/outdoor slipper that looks like a loafer with a pair of jeans.
^^^ Oh I like those UGG Ansleys in black. If I can just part with $99 for them. . .

and lots more…
I wear Dansko open back clogs. Great in the kitchen when I stand around for a long time cooking.
I wear uggs clogs in the house, the hardwood floors are not that comfy.
