AA: Good GPA, Bad transcripts

I will make this quick and to the point.

I am currently at Miami Dade College, a community college in Miami, Florida and have been attending on and off since 2007. Here are my stats:

Miami Dade College 2007-2013

Major: Biology, Pre-Nursing
Current GPA: 3.23 (After retaking classes with failing grades)
Current GPA: 2.07 (Complete cumulative with all grades averaged)

6 withdraws, 8 F’s, 5 D’s, 1 C, 3 B’s, 10 A’s. (Some F’s are repeated as well as W’s), no failing grades in any physical sciences, just social sciences.

Fall 2007: A,D,W,W
Spring 2008: F,D,W,W
Summer 2008: F
Summer 2009: C
Fall 2009: F,D,F
Summer 2010: A,A
Fall 2010: W,F,D
Summer 2011: F,F,B,A
Fall 2011: F,B,A,A
Spring 2012: D,B,W
Summer 2012: A,A,A,A

Miami Dade College offers academic forgiveness in which any failed classes can be retaken for a higher, replacement grade, although the initial failing grade will stay on record. All of the classes that I either withdrew from or got a failing grade of F or D have been replaced and by the end of this semester I will have a cumulative 3.73 GPA.

I am about to graduate with my AA in Spring of 2013 with a 3.78 GPA (with grade forgiveness, this would be my graduating GPA). Without grade forgiveness and averaging all of my grades together, I would have ~2.5 GPA true cumulative since I started.

I know that most state and almost all private universities do not offer academic forgiveness and simply average in all grades, What I wanted to know from perhaps someone else in my situation:

1.) Did I royally screw myself for private universities such as University of Miami and State schools like University of Florida with this transcript?

2.) Does a transfer student from one college with an AA start “fresh” at a new college with a 0.0 GPA, and if so, at the end of the bachelor’s degree, will the previous GPA be averaged with the student’s second college’s GPA?

3.) If I transferred from Miami Dade College with the 3.78 GPA to let’s say, Florida International University which has a contract with Miami Dade College, How would my graduating GPA be calculated when applying to graduate school?

thanks for anyone help!

Find out the contact information for the Transfer Advisor at your branch of Miami Dade, and make an appointment. That person has helped lots of students through the transfer process and will have useful advice for you.

I suppose that’s a good start, It’s just that I have gotten so much conflicting advice from other people even Miami Dade’s own academic advisors that I wanted to try asking in other avenues.

The Transfer Advisors at Miami Dade know where their students end up, and what those students’ transcripts looked like. They really are the experts in this case.
