no invitation. in ga. still waiting.

I got an invitation and am still waiting.

it’s 7-10 days for studio placements

That’s later than last year, from what my faulty memory says. We knew going into the accepted students’ weekend (which was a year ago this weekend) what the studio placements were. They must be slower this year …

NMR, our experience four years ago was like yours. The studio placement was a week after the acceptance package and right before the accepted student event. It was all by snail mail.

Things could be changing but I have no way of knowing that.

I spoke with an Admissions officer today. She stated that the studio placement would be emailed by Friday for those attending Saturday’s admitted Tisch Drama Student’s event.

FYI, a friend whose son is waiting to hear Tisch results called yesterday and was told that decisions went out on Tuesday of this week. So I would imagine they would be landing in many mailboxes today.

And indeed they are! I was rejected, but congratulations to all who were accepted. Good luck to those still waiting… Thank god it’s finally over!

D received her rejection. She is now looking to the acceptances she did receive to make the big decision. All the best to those still waiting.

I am sorry to learn of the denials, though the possibility was strong for any applicant to be denied given the acceptance rate. Try to let it go and embrace the acceptances in hand. In the long run, it won’t matter at all that you or your child did not get into NYU.

MusicEtc…you are right…it is a relief to have the wait over and so much easier to move forward to this very exciting time in your life.

My daughter really enjoyed her audition that day and the experience was well worth it to her. We do wish the best to all those going to NYU next year.

^^^I think the audition experiences for college admissions are really good ones to have under your belt. There will be many more situations like this to come in their future and you can gain from each one along the way.

Indeed, these auditions are great practice for the real world auditions we will all be facing. Like someone brought up earlier, I’m very lucky to have the acceptances I do have: American BA MT and Ithaca BFA Acting. Although neither was high on my list, I’m still so grateful to have offers of any kind. So keep that in mind: Some people don’t have any. And think positively, like Soozievt always says: Next year we’re all going to be studying somewhere and we’re going to forget all about this crazy waiting period. Best of luck to everyone next year!

What should I do?

I called Tisch Admissions today and spoke with a counselor and she told me that they are not allowed to tell my decision over the phone and that one is not made for me yet and I should find out ‘hopefully a few days before May 1st’ but she said there is a possibility I may find out after May 1st. Should I just send a deposit to the other school I’m considering or do I ask for a deadline extension? I don’t want the other school to think I’m not interested in them, but if I were to be accepted to NYU Tisch I would like to be able to compare programs and finances etc, before I make a final decision on either program.

soozie…have you ever heard of this before? Should we call to find out if our kids are admitted? I know we don’t want to wait until before May 1st to find out, yikes. Still nothing in the mail here in CA…starting to wonder.

musicalthetremom, Of course I have heard of it before!! It is just April 2! I think people on the MT Forum tend to be spoiled in a way by the fact that many BFA programs have either rolling admissions or earlier notification dates. But take away MT programs…and examine selective colleges. Almost all of those school notify on or around April 1. I believe that NYU’s mailings are in keeping with a ton of selective schools that send it out to be received on or about April 1. If you receive it on April 3, that is NOT far fetched AT ALL in my opinion for selective universities. It may be later than some MT programs but not for a zillion other colleges that notify around April 1. Now, if you do not get an admissions decision by say, April 6, I would call that quite late. But many have received NYU admissions decisions in the past few days. The US Mail system is variable and so it could take an extra day or two to arrive in some cases. But they have been mailed out.

I was referring to Bird7887 reporting in the post before mine that Tisch is now saying that we might not hear until "a few days before May 1st or possibly after May 1st? I am well aware that we might have to wait until next week…but May 1st ?

Bird7887, you are a transfer, I believe. I don’t think you will have to wait until May 1st but if you went to the last transfer audition on March 25th, NYU hasn’t had much time to check references etc. The good thing is last summer at CAP21 my daughter was told NYU likes transfers. As for giving a deposit to another school and then backing out, I know it’s done but that doesn’t make it right.

who said they like transfers? im a transfer? aren’t the decisions supposed to be out in mid-april, or was it mid-may?

musicaltheatremom…sorry, hard to follow a few conversations at once on a thread…but Bird is a transfer applicant and they often hear after May 1. A freshman applicant will hear around April 1 give or take.

The mail system is very very odd…am dealing with it at this very moment…a very important piece of mail I sent to my brother in Alaska has not arrived after two weeks. A few minutes ago, a computer for my older D that we ordered arrived at my door from Taiwan and I won’t bore you with the details of this very crazy mixed up delivery and order and she lives in Boston. Argh…
