I also want to put in a word for her teachers at CAP21. My d’s very protective of her voice and very particular about voice teachers. Her teachers are the number one reason she loved cap21. The level of instruction is very high as you would expect.

We were too late for NYU housing so she stayed at the Summer Residence Hotel for students on West 85th. Good security but expensive and basic. My daughter met 2 girls that stayed at a women’s residence a few doors away that included breakfast and was very comfortable and less expensive. Of course staying closer to CAP21 studio’s would be better, and in this economy, you may have better luck then I did. Cap 21 has housing refferals also.

My J will be auditioning January 2010 so this info is most helpful. I wasn’t aware of the right to delay a reply until May 1. Also glad to know schools that put pressure on. Question: to those who got NYCTish acceptance, did you also get notice of any grant/scholarship dollars at the same time. We had a senior last year who had to turn down acceptance because the $$ were so skimpy and her parents couldn’t afford the difference.

The grant/scholarship money came with the acceptance letter to Tisch for my daughter that applied regular decision. For my daughter that applied as a transfer to the Stern School of Business at NYU (and applied on the last possible day), did not find out about scholarship money until a week later.
