@ie2020 Economics! I will most likely try to minor in Spanish as well.
Does anyone know when rejections should come out?
I just got accepted to CLA for Asian Languages today !!
out-of-state
sat 1400
4.44 w gpa
12 AP classes
I have a lot of little ECs that don’t really mean anything, and the only one i had all four years is choir. It is probably important to note that I’m graduating with nine foreign language credits and took two other non-credit foreign language classes.
Good luck to everyone who hasn’t heard back yet! I submitted back in October so I had been waiting for this for quite a while.
@lakenalexandria Congratulations! You’re the first person I’ve heard who’s been accepted for a language program. Hopefully that means they’re starting to work thru those applications. My son applied in September for linguistics and Spanish and is still waiting. It’s been a long wait!
Accepted to CBS today !
@Alexasoto Congrats, what time did they send you an email to check your portal at?
At 5:45pm
admitted into CSE, got mail package today, but no scholarship info, wondering how much grants can be given as a OOS student, anyone has clue? thanks
@Ddapplyfromcan The National Award is a merit scholarship (not a grant) that can go to $15K OOS.
@ bigmacbeth Thanks for the info. if no scholarship nofication till now, doesnot it mean my daughter is not qualified for that? I notice there are several claims here already.
@Ddapplyfromcan It took a long time (about a month) to receive our merit letter in the mail after her acceptance. She was accepted early November, so maybe the merit letters are not lagging as much now? I’m not sure, but I’m sure someone else here knows.
Thank you!
Just a guess but more information might come out after regular decision deadline of January 15 passes.
@Ddapplyfromcan – Check your portal. My S received his OOS Scholarship ($15k) the day or two after his acceptance posted via the e-message center. I think this scholarship is based on a formula, so easy to calculate and offer. On the other hand, it took awhile (month?) to get an invite to Honors College with Honors Scholarship ($13k). This came via regular old fashioned mail.
The Regular Decision deadline was Jan 1st.
@Ddapplyfromcan – Oops. Sorry. Posted to wrong thread. I have no info re: scholarships for UM-TC. I apologize for confusion (and caught my mistake after edit window closed)
@aewlmom, never mind, there is no confusion at all, thank you for the kindness. I will keep an eye on it. Also, it is not a big deal even if she will not receive it eventually, she likes the program very much.
The deadline was extended. It’s on the schools website
We still haven’t heard anything about merit aid or scholarships. We are in a reciprocity state, so the 15k/10k merit scholarships don’t apply to my son. Those are the only ones I’ve really heard about being awarded so far. I believe the rest come out in February or March?
@mamadtb we are OOS(Reciprocity State) too. This is the info we have regarding merit aid/scholarships so it does sound like February/March like you mentioned. Sorry if this information is a little long…
“Full consideration for academic scholarships is given to students who submit a complete application for freshman admission by either the Early Action (November 1) or Regular (January 1) application deadlines. No separate application is needed, though the demonstration of financial need is required for certain academic scholarships. On her FAFSA Communication Letter in her portal: We will begin sending estimated financial aid offers in mid-February. Your estimate will include any scholarships, grants, loans, and other financial aid you may be eligible to receive if you choose to attend the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.”
For those in the CLA here is some info we found for those scholarships: “In CLA, you’re automatically considered for CLA collegiate scholarships by submitting an application for admission to the U of M. We don’t have a separate application for scholarships! The typical freshman scholarship from CLA is a collegiate award of $1,000 to $7,000 per year, for up to four years. These scholarships are based on criteria established by the donors for each scholarship. For example, criteria may include scholastic achievement, consistency of academic record, extracurricular and leadership activities, major and career objectives, place of residence, grade level, or financial need, etc. Award notices will be sent by the Office of Admissions to recipients by the end of March of their senior year in high school. If you also applied for financial aid (completed the FAFSA or a DREAM act equivalent), you will receive a second letter in April that outlines your complete financial aid package, including grants, scholarships, loans, expected parental contributions, etc.”
