Of the 4 pages in posts, I don’t see anyone advocating for Milton. Looks like the CC community has spoked - Deerfield!
Milton is 1/2 day. That itself is the largest detriment.
@ehphant - I was wondering about winter clothing! This may seem like a funny question, but coming from the tropical side of the world, if jeans and leggings aren’t allowed (as I’ve read) what other pants are girls left to chose from?
@daykidmom greenfield does seem decent from my visit! A student friendly town indeed. I suppose people do get bored with it though, I’ll definitely request Northampton trips if I were to enroll
@bsalum - I’d read a lot about how tight friendships are formed at milton since kindergarten and that creates a kind of isolation from new students. That threw me off so much! I do agree Deerfield would provide me with the best BS experience from my options.
@heartburner - At the moment, if my WL situation does not progress, then no doubt Deerfield has my heart
Even if the waitlist situation progresses Deerfield should be in your heart.
I’ll speak up for Milton if only to say that Deerfield and Milton are VERY different (even more so IMHO than Andover & Exeter) and you really should consider both of them carefully. Quite a few of GMCkid’s friends (as well as GMCkid) looked at Deerfield and felt that it wasn’t right for them, for whatever reason. Many of these same kids loved Milton. They have different vibes and might appeal to different kids. Will you be going to revisits?
More of a function of the number of members with affiliation to HADES schools than anything else. All you need is one vocal parent/student from Milton to shift that dynamic. After all L’ville cheerleaders were noticeably absent until @mrnephew showed up. Middlesex is another example of a strong school that sadly lacks a presence here. The list could go on.
Both schools are fantastic, but like E/A, I personally feel that a student would be at home at one or the other, but not both.
“Both schools are fantastic, but like E/A, I personally feel that a student would be at home at one or the other, but not both”
Absolutely!
I totally agree
Well, thanks. I got into Exeter, but not Andover. I wanted to go to Andover but I can’t so thanks for telling me I’ll never be at home at Exeter.
@gryffinhunter whats the matter no king size beds available at Exeter?? I think you will be fine. And for the record i would choose Exeter over Andover any day, just personal preference.
@GryffinHunter - You should be ecstatic about your acceptance! I would do anything to be in your shoes and so would a few thousand more people. Congratulations on your acceptance!!
To be really honest, I feel that there is no “best” school, but only the school that is most suitable for you. The fact that Deerfield saw sth in you that they felt would be a good fit in them and that Andover didn’t, suggests that maybe you are more suited for Deerfield.
These AOs have done these things for years and they know it when they see a kid that will do well in their school. After all, that is what the whole admission process is about.
My suggestion is that you go with Deerfield (or Milton). Love the school that loves you.
Oh, I am happy. I was just being sarcastic.
I think I could be happy at both schools, but IMHO I don’t think you should tell kids that they will never be at home at one school(when they liked the other better) when the only option they have is to go the school they liked less. Home is where the heart is, but I think the heart can go to multiple places and be content.
To be fair, the comment was not directed at you; you hijacked the thread.
Eighteenohfive-- I guarantee you-- LOTS of girls wear leggings, yoga pants, etc. My son is constantly amazed that they’re not freezing all winter (what’s wrong with a nice warm pair of cords?).
@daykidmom I’ve read a lot of class dress threads and I suppose the kids get used to it. Do you know much about the sit down meals? I’m an extremely picky eater - even when it comes to good food! Is it possible to pass a dish you’re not up for or are you forced to scarf it down?
@eighteenohfive There is usually an expectation that if you take the food that you will eat it. There is no expectation, though, that you need to take the food.
