It is just tuition
A full tuition scholarship can take the financial edge off for many families. Congratulations on receiving that!
I just want to say congratulations on getting a full tuition scholarship to a school she likes!!!
Adding…tuition at University of Scranton is over $53000 a year…which isn’t exactly chump change!
That’s a nice award. Congratulations!
Love Scranton! Have a student there and potentially another on the way! The opportunity for close relationships with professors has been amazing and the campus is very social!
Thank you. Did your daughter attend high school in New York State?
Not having gotten an answer to my question, I’ll move forward with the assumption that this student is a NY State resident because she applied to 2 SUNY campuses (she might not be) and that she graduated in the top 10% of her class, given that she has been offered a full tuition scholarship (top 10% is something I don’t know either), I would like to refer the OP to the NYS STEM Incentive Program ( NYS Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Incentive Program | HESC )
Under this program, graduates of NY State high schools in the top 10% of their class who attend a SUNY and who choose to major in any of a long list of STEM majors are able to attend college tuition free. Under this scenario, this student could attend either of the SUNYs to which she has been accepted - Binghamton or Stony Brook - for only the cost of Room, Board, and fees, which would put the cost at $22,000, or in the same range as Scranton.
In one of her answers to me she’s #1 or #2 in her class.
Don’t assume ‘rank’ and ‘rigor’ go hand in hand. They often don’t.
Pre med will be hard everywhere.
Congrats to her and best of luck.
