Accused of cheating on the SAT

I get providing laptops would be more secure, but that’s cost and logistically prohibitive to make happen globally. I’m also not sure CB said there would be no cheating on digital tests, just that it would be less risk as compared to paper tests, which is true.

Note I am in no way supporting CB….not for any of their products, not for the way they are accusing students of cheating/using AI on SAT and AP tests, not for the student appeal process.

Yes totally true. But as everyone knows, although they’re a private corporation, they’re a huge company. They do not fall in terms of budget wise, and they even invest tons of money just to defend themselves during appeals. They should not be doing this just because establishing PCs are costly. That is indeed true. But they should definitely find for the most optimal alternatives, which bringing personal laptops is not the best choice to proceed. Yes I totally understand this. I do not think that anyone supports this collegeboard policies regarding accusations and the appeal process. I just wanted to notify everyone how unfair this is from my real life example and how I’m genuinely concerened about my application. My parents have worked so hard for me to go study abroad and if this does not end well due to false accusation, it would literally ruin my family’s life..

Nope. Need to register.

@mschin

Stop jumping to conclusions. You don’t know you’ll be reported. You don’t know you’ll be asked on an app but if so answer honestly.

If you are applying to the tippy top schools only, it’s unlikely you get an acceptance although full pay helps.

If you don’t, you’ll never know why.

Put forth your best app and ensure you have a safety.

There’s no point in spinning this over and over. You can’t control what will happen.

Hey thanks for your words. I regained my consciousness due to you. I think you are totally right about this. I should definitely shift my route towards more safety options and I will transparently write down everything in my application. I will move on from this and try my best for an optimal application to appear for the AOs!

You should always have an assured and affordable safety. It has nothing to do with this. But if your entire list is sub 5% entrants, then you are looking at total rejection - which is fine if you have a back up plan - perhaps in another country.

That guidance has nothing to do with your situation.

Oh for sure. Yes I was having like 4,5 safeties before this incident has occured. But I think after this incident, I will search and apply for more safeties and eliminate a few other reach and target school options that weren’t necessary to me. Nah I prob will have to go to the US so I probably will apply for more safeties in this case.

If you are using the term “safety” correctly, 4 or 5 is more than enough. 2-3 is usually fine.
