ACT Score

I recently took my first ACT and received the score a few weeks ago. I scored a 29. As a sophomore in high school is this a good score. I am very interested in pursuing and engineering degree at any top tier school, mostly Purdue or Wisconsin. I believe I am going to achieve a better score since I barely studied, but what do you think I should score on it to major in a tough engineering major. As a chemical engineer what should my score be?

Thanks

29 as a sophomore is not bad at all, I think if you get above a 30 the next time you take it and you have a good GPA and some extracurriculars, you’ll be well on your way to engineering at a school like Purdue. They also like to see that your math and science subscores are higher since that’s the career area you want to focus on, so if those are the weaker parts of your test then I would suggest doing a couple practice sections at the very least.
