Over on the Penn board, it looks like 2 waitlisted students called Admissions and they were told that letters/emails should be out by Wednesday taking somewhere from 50-70 students off their waitlist. Eric Furda made the statement earlier saying that Penn is overenrolled by 19 students but because of the anticipated summer melt they expect to take between 50-70 off the waitlist this year. This is down from the 180 they took last year. So as soon as anyone hears tomorrow I guess you can add them to the list. Good Luck to anyone hoping to be a Quaker!

my friend just got into Harvard today.

Forgot to add Rice when I posted last time.

I guess I don’t really understand how the wait list is still active. Didn’t seniors have to make their decisions by May 1st? If you receive several acceptances and are on a couple of waitlists, do you hold back from choosing a college that accepted you hoping that a waitlist school accepts after May 1st? Or can you revoke to a school that accepted you if a waitlist school makes you an offer?

Yes Seniors made their decisions by May 1 (hopefully lol!) If you’re on the waitlist, you submit a deposit at a school that accepted you (in case you don’t get off the waitlist). In the chance that you do get off, you simply tell the school you submitted to that you’re willing to forfeit the deposit (couple hundred bucks) and go to another school.

anyone heard anything recently about Trinity’s (Hartford) waitlist?

Has anyone heard anything about Univ of Michigan’s waitlist?

This message came from Tony Cabasco, the dean of admissions at Whitman College on May 14:

We are just sending out letter to let students know. It’s not likely that we’ll take frosh off the wait list. We’re right on target for the entering class. Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Has anyone heard from Grinnell? I called an admissions officer two days ago, he said they were still working on the waiting list and that I should expect an answer by this Friday.

I know someone who got off the waitlist for johns hopkins

Looks like Tulane and John Hopkins are active.
