Active Waitlists

Georgia, GT

Washington and Lee admitted me yesterday (Friday) from their waitlist. They specified that they could offer NO financial aid…for ANY of my four years there. No reevaluations of circumstances in the future. My mom called to verify this and the man told her they weren’t trying to be mean, they chose waitlisted students whose financial situations indicated they might be able to pay it all. Um, no, this family can’t.

Good luck to the rest of you on Washington and Lee’s waitlist.

any word on Vassar?

Did anyone hear from Harvard and is Princeton done calling for now?

Thanks Dodoro_Irene! They are two of my friends so they are international students! Do u think I should email adcom and as them how many students are on the wait list also? And ask them if I am admitted, can they meet full need aid? I am a bit worried because one of those two above told me that one time, the adcom told he that the money of the school is exhausted!!!

One more thing to ask: Can low contribution hurt my chance? Those two of my friends all can contribute ~ 13,000 USD —> 14, 000 USD while I can only contribute 7,000USD to 8,000 USD T___T

Thanks in advance, everyone

Dear duong91,
In answer to your question about if financial situation might affect your chances of making it off a waitlist…I can’t tell you about all schools, but from my own personal experience, the answer is YES!!! ABSOLUTELY YES!!!

I was admitted from Washington and Lee’s waitlist last week. The letter said they could provide NO financial aid this year, and (worse) NONE for any of the subsequent years. So, for all 4 years there would be NO financial aid for me…“under any circumstances.”

My mom called their fin aid office to ask if our family situation changes would they possibly reevaluate me for finaid. The man assured her that, NO, they would NOT reevaluate our family’s position. If mom or dad lost a job that would be too friggin bad… now pay up ~$50K.

He told her that they were not trying to be mean; they selected waitlisted candidates whose financial pictures looked like they could afford to attend without any aid. In my case, looks can be deceiving. I’ll have to tell them no thanks.

Perhaps things are different at the school(s) you’re waitlisted at, but at W&L money is what they’re looking for.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

I, too, am wondering for a friend if anyone knows the status of Vassar’s waitlist.

i believe bryn mawr has gone to waitlsit too

and to NONG VAN DEN- duong91, of course, low contribution hurts almost at every school… besides Harvard, Princeton, Yale, MIT
if u can pay 50k… u probably will get off the list… it does hurt alot being international needing full aid like u this yr

U realize me  Good friend! Ok I know my chance right now ;)

apparently fordham’s waitlist will not be having any activity anymore at this point.
i replied back to the admissions assistant director’s response for clarification but yep

Harvey Mudd this year will not be active. 213 deposits for intended freshman class of 200…

Has anyone heard anything from Bates College? I’m think they might not be admitting anyone from the waitlist. I’m pretty sure we’re supposed to hear by the 15th… friday.

any news on amherst or williams?

Williams is currently overenrolled by 4 students (554/550). I cannot confirm this with a link or anything – I am in touch with an admissions officer who supplied me with this information, so I’m sorry if you want confirmation. She says they’re waiting for the Ivies to take from their waitlists, because they expect the numbers to drop a little then.

Vassar will start taking students off the waitlist in a couple of days. Yay!

does anyone know anything about UNC?
