Adblock help

Hey fellow CCers…

It was here in the Parent Cafe a couple of years ago that someone explained how to block the ads that appear on the sidelines of this and other websites. I was so grateful and followed the directions and haven’t had to view ads for a few years.

However, today, after restarting my computer, all of a sudden, I am seeing ads here and it has been years since I ever saw any and hadn’t seen any after getting the ad blocker thing.

So, I went to look up how to block ads on my browser which is Safari on a Mac. I got the link to “AdBlocker.” It seems to install it, there is a fee, though you can name the fee you want to “donate.” I don’t recall ever paying any fee last time. Is AdBlocker the thing I need or is there some other free link that I must have used originally but now forgot what I had done after learning it here in the Parent Cafe…the go-to information place!

Is this the thread?

(Search function brought it up pretty easily)

Thanks, @ClaremontMom for trying to help. No, it wasn’t that thread. Back whenever I read it here a few years ago, there was a link or directions on how to block ads and I did it with no fee and had no ads until today. Again, I see online that there is something called AdBlocker and I could install that and pay a small fee. I just was checking if anyone knows the link to get the blocker of ads I must have used originally that was free.

I think Adblock Plus is free

I use Adblock Plus (free).

I also use Adblock plus. It’s the only way I can tolerate using my yahoo email account.

Aha! That was the key. I had visited AdBlock for Safari and learned that while that used to be free, now a donation is required. But AdBlock Plus for Safari is free and I am back to NO ADS! Thanks you guys. I knew that within minutes I could get the answer here.
