So, I have a 1400 SAT score, haven’t taken SAT 2s and am an international student who needs some serious aid. Also, I am an A-Level student. Got 4A*s 5As in o level and 3As 1B in AS-retaking chemistry due to the B. I want to major in physics and am on my country’s IPhO team for the next year. My school transcripts are sub par- which I have been told by several counselors as being practically useless (is that true?). Which colleges should I apply to? How about Colgate? Cornell? Wesleyan?

Where do I stand the best chance?

How can a transcript be useless? I mean it is a mandatory part of the application. Could you explain a bit?

Since we give CIE O and A Level exams which are much harder, so if you get good grades in those then school transcripts don’t matter much? idk, not sure.

That’s simply not true. Whether your exams are good or bad, transcripts are always important. Your counselors are simply wrong…
