ADMISSION DECISIONS FALL 2016 (CLASS OF 2020)

My application was marked complete about a month ago and I still haven’t heard back…
I applied SCEA, have been in contact with my admission rep, and sent my quarter grades…
I’m on the lower end of the spectrum though with a 2050 and a 3.7 UW but have 6 APs and all the rest honors…
If I haven’t heard back now is it likely I’ll be deferred?

Personally I wouldn’t think you would be deferred, at least not based on those stats. Probably just in the pile.

Mine was also marked complete about a month ago and I haven’t heard anything either @jamiesaevitzon ! (Though I am regular EA) I don’t know a ton about the admissions process but I feel like your stats would put you in the running at least. Hopefully they just haven’t gotten to us yet?

This may have been asked already, and sorry if it was, but does Tulane share what percentage of their deferred students end up getting admitted in the RD round? (I guess it’s still a bit early for me to be concerned about this, but I’m just curious.)

@av0cad0

I have never seen that stat published, at least that I can recall.

Thanks, I looked up is GPA; unweighted 3.6; weighted 3.97

@HopefulIKEE

Very borderline for a scholarship I would say. It looks like a couple of people with kind of similar stats got the Academic Achievement, but there may be other factors in their file. Close call I think, and nothing to do but wait.

Does being the child of an alumnus have any positive effect admissions or scholarship?

Fallenchemist?

Thank you

@slg333

I think very slight on admission, especially if the alum stayed involved at some level after graduating. But I have seen the children of two parent alums get denied. No effect on scholarships I am reasonably certain.

I get the impression that the legacy factor is losing steam at most private schools, again unless the family is involved with the school. Too many other pressures these days, I think.

I submitted my application to Tulane on the 15th and sent my ACT score the Thursday before, but on Gibson it says that they have not yet received my ACT score? Should I be concerned about this? Will this delay my response or put me in the regular decision pile?

@cab598 Most likely there’s no issue. ACT scores can take up to 2 weeks to be received by a school, and even a couple more to be processed, especially since a ton of people probably sent them in around the 15th. I would wait until the end of the week, then call on Friday if Gibson still hasn’t been updated.

@usualhopeful ok thank you!

One can never be sure, but it has happened in the past.

Has anyone from CA gotten a decision yet?

JK I just got my Acceptance !!!
