My app has been done since October 31st and I got in today! I have a 3.18 gpa (I know shocking although I showed a significant upward trend) and I got a 1990 (1310 out of 1600) on the SAT. I have taken 3 honors courses (1 freshman year and 2 senior year) and I have limited extracurriculars although I believe my essay “Why Tulane” and my common app essay were strong. I was surprised when I found out I was admitted today, I thought for sure I would be deffered. Hope this gives someone hope!! Good luck.
@JTlover12, several kids from my son’s school in Maryland have been accepted to Tulane (not my son though). . .can’t speak to the other states.
We are in Maryland and still waiting, but @student111111898 gives me hope that they are now reaching into the lower GPA pile. Congrats to all of you who have already heard!
I applied October 10 and have a 4.0 but I still haven’t heard back yet… this makes me a little bit worried
@twicemama and @treehugger505 and @freezycool I submitted my app a week before the Nov 15 deadline. It was a last minute thing since I was working on my other apps before and I started to get lazy. I honestly don’t know how I got accepted earlier. Maybe it was because I refreshed the Tulane page so much they wanted me to stop ahaha.
@student111111898 where are you from? and is that your W or UW gpa?
Does anyone know some good questions to ask admissions counselors to show interest? Looking at this forum, I don’t think I’d have too hard of a time getting in (I have a 30 ACT, 3.9ish UW gpa, and 10 APs) but I didn’t realize that admission decisions weren’t released all at one time so I didn’t submit my application til like November 15th. Does this also mean they might run out of scholarship money by the time they get to me?
I applied early action as bio major a, but I still need to submit my secondary school report so my app isn’t complete yet. However, if anyone would like have an idea of what kind of applicant I am:
SAT 1: 1900
SAT 2: Bio E-720
UW: 3.03
W: 4.4
Class Rank: top 10%
Senior year schedule: AP Stats, AP gov, AP enviro, AP Calc AB, AP Physics 2, English 4 hon, AP Comp Gov, Anatomy hon, AP Macro
EC’s: 3 officer positions and founder of a large scale community service project
I’m depending on my upwards grade trend on this. I averaged a 3.6 unweighted and 5.5 weighted last quarter. Pulled class rank from top 25% to top 10% in within a year.
Stay calm, all is well. Absolutely no issue with scholarship money, people in the RD pool get it too, and that isn’t for months yet. Just not an issue. You appear to be a great Tulane type student stats wise, so it is probably just that you applied on the last day. Did you do the “Why Tulane”?
To be honest you might be right at the borderline. Your best strengths (of what we can see) appear to be your upward trend and your challenging course load. Very tough call from the peanut gallery here. But certainly not “No way, you don’t have a chance”. You absolutely do.
@lilbno new jersey and unweighted, school doesn’t weight
@fallenchemist Thanks! That’s definitely reliving! And yes I did do the “Why Tulane”. I wasn’t exactly sure how to tackle that one, but I basically talked about some programs I liked- educo and the peace corps training program- and about my majors. I also talked about my AP English teacher, a New Orleans native, and how he kind of inspired to me look there. He always had so many in-depth stories about his times in New Orleans, and I could definitely feel the excitement and sense of opportunity he had described when I visited New Orleans and Tulane
That sounds great. You should be fine, and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

My daughter has been admitted to Tulane and received 25,000 in MS. She has since received her October ACT score of 33, she had been 30 and I am just wondering if that should change her merit scholarship. I have been looking at past years admitted students stats and their merit awards and it would seem to me that with a 33 she should be at or above 30k. Her GPA and ECs are outstanding, most likely why she was admitted so quickly in the first place, so it’s not like she wasn’t a strong applicant with the 30. Tulane has encouraged her to apply for the full scholarship but in the event that she doesn’t get it, should I contact them about re-evaluating her merit award?

@fontana When I contacted them earlier this year about re-evaluating for merit scholarships, they said they don’t do it, so most likely she’ll get the $25k unless she’s awarded one of the full scholarships. However, I would contact them anyway since 30 to 33 is a pretty significant jump, and it can’t hurt to ask.
Hello all, I was wondering if someone could give me some insight to my chances.
I applied SCEA in September and my application was marked complete in October. I am from Illinois and have still not heard back yet. I am Hispanic with a 29 ACT and 3.95 GPA UW, 5.09 GPA W. I have taken 7 AP classes and all honors and am ranked 7/984 and decent extracurriculars
It may not seem like a lot of AP classes, but my school does not offer many so it is very hard to get one in your schedule. The average ACT at my school is 15, and only 10% go to college, I am the first person from my school to apply to Tulane. I have done everything I can to show interest. I visited the campus in July, went to the regional event, contacted my rep, took part in the Gibson online chat and wrote a very detailed Why Tulane? essay about Tulane and it’s involvement in Mesoamerican studies
I know my ACT is low, but I am hoping my GPA and background can help me. I absolutely love Tulane’s anthropology and Latin American studies majors, and I would love nothing more than to join the Tulane family. I know it is still early, but is it likely that I will be deferred? Any insight would be appreciated!
Hey everyone! Congratulations to all those admitted! Tulane is a lovely school and I’m very envious of all of you
I haven’t received a decision yet so still hopeful, but I’m an international who can’t afford much, things are hard for us hahaha
I hope you enjoy your time at Tulane if you end up going!
Just to provide some extra background, Tulane used to adjust merit awards for big stat improvements, but a couple years ago started stating publicly that they don’t reevaluate. However, I think there are exceptions from time to time. I agree with @usualhopeful that it doesn’t hurt to ask even now, when it is early in the admissions cycle. It is important, though, to not come across as entitled or indignant if they stick to the current offer. They may be under even stricter orders not to revisit awards, I don’t know. She does in fact have a good shot for full tuition based on her new statistics, so you want to maintain that hope for sure.
