ADMISSION DECISIONS FALL 2016 (CLASS OF 2020)

Hey everyone! Sorry about hijacking the thread, but does any international here know where to submit the certification of finances?

Hi friends. Question… if we get accepted, where do we see if we qualified for any of the automatic merit scholarships? Or do we have to wait two weeks for the mail to come?

Thanks!

@direstraits25

@TheMosby

You have to wait for the paper mail. If you are in the USA, it should be less than two weeks.

PS. You will almost certainly get a very nice award upon acceptance.

@fallenchemist helpful as always. Thank you!

    []Teacher Recommendations:I didn’t read but I think really really good! One was from my APUSH/Psych teacher and him and I are really close and I worked so so so hard in those classes. The other is from my sophomore year math teacher, she retired a year ago and we still meet for coffee!

Reflection:

  • []Strengths: Upward trend in grades, main essay, recommendations, courseload possibly
    []Weaknesses: Freshman year isn’t part of the high school in my district so it’s not calculated in my GPA but they still send my grades and I had an A-/B+ average, No hooks, No strong interest in the school (never visited or talked to them etc), wrote my “Why Tulane” essay in like 30 minutes.
    [
    ]Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I think my grades/stats were strong and also I am really close with the teachers who wrote my essays so I think they really helped! As far as scholarship goes… I am really at a loss. Looking through everyone’s stats on here idk how I got the presidential scholarship as I have shown no real interest in the school.

    [
    ]General Comments/Advice/Hindsight: I never considered Tulane a serious choice, but with the merit money it might be too good of an opportunity to pass up!! Good luck everybody IK the college application process is really intense and it makes people feel really vulnerable but we will all get through it together!!

@CRR16grad

Congrats on your acceptance! We have similar stats and are both from MN, so I was just wondering when you applied and when you were accepted?

@CRR16grad

Thanks! I applied in late October and haven’t heard back yet, so I’m getting pretty nervous. Kind of expecting to get deferred at this point…

Have you guys submitted your CSS profiles? When are they due?

So I signed into my Gibson to check if I got a notification, and it says “You are signed in as K. Y.”, but there is no applicant tab or anything, its just a white screen with that message. Does this mean anything significant, because in the past times I checked I could access the full webpage and tabs on the webpage.

@kyquanzo Something similar happened to me a couple times, and both times I freaked out, and then nothing happened. I think it’s most likely just an error.

@treehugger505

I believe Feb 15 is the date for all financial aid forms.

Thank you!!

Just a quick question for all the accepted applicants from northeast, Is anyone from Manhattan? getting a little uncomfortable, submitted November 9th. Have good SATs, AP scores, etc, toured campus, met with rep, strong recommendations…biting nails and more than a little concerned. Also, who has checked their Gibson at one point in the day and then had a different result either within hours or on a weekend?

@nycapp I’m not from the northeast but I checked my Gibson early on in the day and didn’t have a decision and found out about my acceptance that night.

On my Common App, I said that I would be applying for the Paul Tulane Award. However, with the deadline coming up, I’m not sure if I’ll have time to get all the materials done. I have not yet received an admissions decision, but my stats are solid and I expect to receive some amount of partial merit aid. What steps should I take if I decide not to submit the Paul Tulane application? Should I email my counselor, or can I just leave it alone?
