Good deal, @Malcomx99. Did it say anything interesting?
My son got accepted in the wave (hah) after midnight. Will post full stats after we get his letter, but he had a 2220 SAT (2270 superscored) and 2.9 UW, 3.6 W gpa. Missed NMSF by 1 point (in a tough state) and has very good AP scores. We were sure the UW gpa was too low but he must have had good essays and rec letters. Thrilled that they are wiling to give him a chance! If you are still waiting, hang in there.
I applied RD on September 7. I know it’s RD so I might not even hear until April, but I have got nothing. Not even a confirmation email or anything. Common app says that my application is complete though. Is this normal? Will I get something if I am accepted?
@IBislife just curious to why you wouldn’t do EA? if you got it in that early you may as well? and to answer your question, you probably won’t hear back until closer to the RD deadline since your app was put into that pile.
@micky1120 @IBislife probably applied SCEA somewhere, in which case you can’t apply EA somewhere else except for scholarships.
@collegebobollege true, didn’t even think about that
Just to confirm, they probably put any RD apps aside for now.
@fallenchemist I got $27k in merit money, which I wasn’t expecting since I have a low 2000(but a 4.0 UW GPA). Thanks for your helpful info.
My daughter applied EA Aug 17th. Application completed Oct 1st when school finally sent in their information. Was just accepted 10:30pm Sunday night. Will post full stats when letter arrives but 32 ACT and 3.86 W GPA. Wanted to give all those who applied months ago some hope…she was starting to think her application had been lost!
Congratulations!!
thanks @fallenchemist for all of your help on the tulane thread! I feel like that needed to be said
@fallenchemist do you know the common student criteria, meaning GPA and test scores, to receive merit-based scholarships?
There are no published criteria for the partial merit scholarships, but the Presidential Scholarship is generally in the same range as those that are then “eligible” for the PTA or DHS. The Premier Distinguished can be pretty similar, the difference is small. Anyway, some members have been tracking the stats of accepted students and what partial merit scholarship they receive, and I think it is very easy to see that it is pretty consistent. Sometimes someone has a very high GPA and low test score or vice versa, but even then you can see that they are “averaging” these out to award them an amount that is pretty consistent with someone that has more parallel stats. See, for example, post #368.
so my big question is: are they only sending them back if you got in as of now?? If so, when do they start sending out deferrals (if you couldnt notice im getting more and more nervous!)
another big question: do acceptances come out in “bursts”, or certain times of the day, or is it all just a random pile of website confusion?
Acceptances seem to go out at all different times, so no help there. Deferrels will come all at once, or at least closely bunched, nearer to the Dec. 15 date.
