Hi I’m trying to attach a singular picture I took to the DHS application but it won’t allow me to. Does anyone know of a way I can provide them with this picture if it doesn’t allow me to put it on/attach it to the pdf?

I applied early November, and have been non-stop checking the portal. I’m pretty sure I’m going to get deferred since I haven’t shown much interest into Tulane (because I didn’t even know about the school until a few months ago.) I have a 1950 SAT a 4.4 weighted GPA and a 3.9 unweighted. I wish I had found out about this school earlier because I feel like I would be a great fit…

@treehugger505

Just send the picture in an email to your admissions person and explain that it wouldn’t attach to the pdf file. They will merge the two. You can then follow up to make sure it went OK.

This kind of thing has happened in the past, so don’t panic.

@treehugger505 if you make a copy of the document it’ll allow you to insert your photo, that’s what I did. But what fallenchemist said works fine too

@sadlyoptimistic My situation was pretty similar. Tulane only came on my radar a month or so before the EA date. I missed opportunities to demonstrate interest, which was a cause of worry for me. I did the why Tulane essay, but it wasn’t my best work. I didn’t see the EC essay, so I just emailed my counselor to tell him about some of my ECs, and I explained to him how I really liked Tulane but only found out about it recently as a way to demonstrate interest.
We have similar GPAs, but my SAT is a 2120. I got accepted on Tuesday. Don’t lose hope!

Should I keep checking the portal during the weekend?

@NotMyName907 Yes. They still release decisions in the weekend.

@NotMyName907 yes! I got accepted on a saturday

This time of year it seems they are close to 24/7. Well, maybe 16/7.

@anothermuggle thanks for sharing, it makes me feel a little bit better! I’ll try to remain hopeful for atleast the next few days. If you don’t mind me asking what major did you apply for?

Just got my letter in the mail and was informed I am a presidential scholar (32k per year)! Stats are 3.56 UW GPA 31 ACT - full post is under post #436

@fallenchemist @collegebobollege thank you both so much!

@nemo18 @fallenchemist @collegebobollege Thanks! I guess I’ll keep on waiting… … …

Since finding out on Gibson my S16 was accepted we had almost a week of walking on air. Then we got the letter in the mail and there is no mention of any merit aid. We didn’t expect it, but something would have helped. Other acceptances are starting to come in. We may appeal, he REALLY wants to be able to attend.

[li]General Comments/Advice/Hindsight: Even though grades were low we hoped Tulane would recognize that he loves learning and never stops challenging himself. [/li][/ul]

Just wondering, would applying for the Paul Tulane Award really give me that much of an edge in the admissions process? I am nearly positive that I won’t be selected for PTA but I’d really like to get into Tulane and I’m worried I may not have shown enough demonstrated interest… I wrote the Why Tulane essay and I feel like it was pretty good, as well, I’ve been signed up to Tulane’s emails for a while now. Is demonstrated interest a huge factor in admission?

My S applied Early Action on Nov. 13. ACT: 30, GPA 3.8 AP’s US History (4) English Comp (4). Leadership, lots of community service, varsity sports. Visited Tulane, went to admission counselor’s presentation at school, has sent several emails to Admission counselor expressing interest, a very strong “Why Tulane” essay. Several of his friends at his school not so much different from his stats have already been accepted. His Gibson portal remains “awaiting review”. At this point, should we expect a deferral? Is there any value in calling the admission office and asking his status? Any feedback would be appreciated.

@sadlyoptimistic I applied for Communication Studies. I’ll post my full stats as soon as I get my letter to see if I get merit aid.

I’d like to second @cab598 question; I’m just about to send in my DHS application but won’t have time to complete the PTA (though I indicated I would like to in Common App). Will that give me an admission disadvantage? I too have done a lot to demonstrate interest, and also know that the scholarships are very competitive. Also, I qualify for Tulane’s no-loan financial aid plan if I get in (income under $75,000), so hopefully finances won’t be my issue. The DHS was more of another way for me to show interest anyway…
