@cab598 @historyprof If you have high enough stats (32/33+ GPA, top 5%), then it will make a difference, but if not, I don’t think there’s much point. My guess is also that if you’ve already submitted the DHS, it will show quite a bit of interest, and the PTA on top of it won’t be as helpful.
Should I send an email telling them that I have submitted my PTA? The automatic email response said that they may not be able to register the PTA as received for another 2 weeks, which is after the EA decision deadline.
@usualhopeful I have a 32 ACT, a 3.9 UW GPA and I’m in the top 3% of my class, but I thought that I was around the middle 50% of accepted students. I guess I should just do it anyways to be safe (although I really don’t know what to write these essays on)
You really don’t have to do anything, they are just telling you that so you know not to worry that it doesn’t show up as received in your file until possibly around Christmas. Sending an email to your admissions person won’t change that. The fact that you have that automatic response is proof of receipt, and your admissions person will know that you sent it as far as making their final decision. But by all means if you want to be 1000% (sic) sure they know because it might affect your admissions decision, send a quick email one line email letting them know your PTA application was submitted on time.
I would say those stats probably put you at about the 75th percentile for Tulane for entering students, not sure about accepted students. You could be right.
Does anyone know whether or not the two essays for the PTA are supposed to be in two separate PDFs or one big one?
@lcs2016 Mine was two separate documents.
@SnapApp Thank you so much! Just submitted my now lol
I don’t think it matters. Tulane’s attitude in admissions is never to screw a student out of an opportunity based on technicalities, but to assist them as much as possible. Not saying this is even a technical violation of some kind, I really don’t think it is. But if it was it wouldn’t be a problem. I have seen a number of cases where students didn’t do things per the instructions for just submitting their regular application and admissions makes sure their folder is squared away.
Decided to apply for the PTA after all…
I emailed all the PDFs about 20 minutes after 12 am ET (although where I live it is still 9 PMish)
I’m sure it’s fine and they won’t care, and I got the email confirming that it was received. However, I tend to stress out and worry about little things, so I just wanted to get a second opinion on the matter of slightly late submissions… @fallenchemist ?
Good news, and my fault for not pointing this out before. They go by CST, so everyone had until 1 AM EST. 11 PM MST, and 10 PM PST. Although you might be right that they wouldn’t have cared, that could be one “technicality” they would enforce in the spirit of fairness. Hard to know, but you are OK. @anothermuggle
@cab598 If you don’t mind my asking, I’m curious where you’re from and when you applied (I’m Idaho & Nov 15). My stats seem pretty comparable to yours (1400 SAT I, top 4% (5/126), 3.93 UW) and I’m still waiting for a decision as well. :o Good luck!
@historyprof i have similar stats from you and I applied mid-October. I’m from California, and I know of a lot of people who also haven’t heard. Best of luck!
@aryastarks Thank you, best of luck to you too!
That’s great you applied that early (but sorry it’s taken them so long to respond to you), I hope that my applying on the deadline isn’t looked at as lack of interest. Okay cool, that’s reassuring to know; I’m from a smaller city and though I’m a senior I’m taking all my classes at a local community college, so I don’t know anybody else who’s already applied. Thanks again, hopefully we’ll hear within the next day or two!
I kind of doubt that Tulane takes applying at or near the deadline as an indicator of anything. As much as I would like to think Tulane is as well known as Harvard and Stanford, it isn’t quite. It’s pretty well known, especially after one goes to college even if you go elsewhere. I became aware of a ton of schools for the first time after I was at Tulane. Anyway, the point is they know that enough high schoolers don’t become aware of the school until a bit later in the process so that they apply a bit later as well. They send out a lot of marketing material, but they can’t get to everyone!
@historyprof thanks! I am not from upstate NY and applied early November, Good luck!
