@actssmart I hope everything works out for you! If Tulane doesn’t want you, their loss. You are going to end up somewhere wonderful- I’m sure you’ve earned it. High school is not easy and you’ve made it this far, which is something to be incredibly proud of.
@Booajo, it totally is. I don’t generally brag but I would say I’m a pretty capable student. My principal wrote me a letter of rec and when he saw Tulane on the list he told me he thought I could get a LOT of money- even possibly a full ride. Obviously, that didn’t even kind of work out. It’s why you can’t call yourself an automatic accept, or count yourself out before you’ve tried. I just have to believe things will work out. Good luck to you and don’t worry! What’s supposed to happen will, and if you’re not enamored you can always transfer. Plus, it’s only four years of our lives. In the midst of applying, it feels like the make or break, but it’s truly not. Everything is going to be okay. You should be incredibly proud of yourself for all you’ve accomplished. Best of luck!

If I haven’t heard anything back so far, is it safe to say that I’ve been deferred? Or is there a slight chance that Tulane is still sending out acceptances
what does the deferral notification look like on gibson? I know the congratulations is in bold for accepted students. i have not heard back yet so I’m just wondering what it looks like. also has anyone been deferred from connecticut/ny that has the admissions counselor sarah varner?
@jax1698 Tulane sends out acceptances all the way up to the 15th so we just have to hang in there. I’m starting to feel like I’ll be deferred as well but trying to hope for the best!

Absolutely still eligible, your application is not thrown out. Last year (or maybe it was two years ago) I know at least one person that won full tuition after initially being deferred.
As was said they budget merit money for the RD pool also. In fact, the awards are the same, based on the stats. So if a person in the EA pool that had the stats that matched for $27K/year, those same stats (assuming nothing else unusual) in the RD pool will also get $27K/year. If you can search out the D acceptances from last year, you will see this.

Are the merit scholarship awards and acceptance letter in the same envelope, or arriving separately? My son got his acceptance letter today, and there is no mention of merit award. I really thought he would be offered something, he has ACT 32 and weighted gpa 4.2.
