ADMISSION DECISIONS FALL 2016 (CLASS OF 2020)

Hi. Tulane has always been my dream school and I was deferred. I have a 3.741 UW GPA. I Have an 1870 SAT score. I know they are on the low end but I am not a great test taker. I had an 1800 but retook the SAT and sent them my new updated scores after being deferred so that should help, right? I had a great first semester with rigorous courses and good grades. Great essays and great charitable extra curriculars. I know deferrals are being released please let me know what your feelings are so my hopes aren’t too high! I also go to a top high school in new york. @fallenchemist thoughts…

@collegegirl119

Sure, an increase in the SAT has to help. And I would not call a 3.74 UW GPA lower end. I think you improved your chances a fair amount, but the applications this year are more competitive than ever. Best of luck!

My son received his acceptance letter to Tulane over the weekend ~ Yeah!! However, it did not mention his intended major in the letter or on the website. Any insight? He is an architecture major.

@strawshort

Tulane doesn’t do admissions by major. He could change his major tomorrow to business or anthropology or history or chemistry or undecided and it wouldn’t affect his admission or anything else one iota except which advisor he would get and of course which classes he would choose.

YEAH!!! After being deferred from EA, my daughter was just admitted! She is thrilled! Now we just wait to figure out financial aid and a visit!!

Ugh I wish I knew already. :frowning: but I applied RD. It seems like the EA deferrals are getting their decisions first. Any RD applicants that submitted in January know anything yet?

@zeppelins well the EA deferrals have been waiting for about three months now, imagine that. And someone on this thread applied RD in Jan and got accepted, so that should answer your question.

@zeppelins I feel your pain!!! I also applied RD in January and it is so annoying being so clueless while others are being offered substantial scholarships

@violintigress Now imagine applying in September! But yeah, it’s stressful no matter when the app goes in. It will be so nice when it’s April 1st and the process is finally over.

I checked my common app today. I’m in CA, and the mid year report was available to my colleges and downloaded on 2/2/2016. Purdue seemed to act the fastest with that input, and accepted me a few days later. I’m hoping Tulane, Wake Forest, Brandeis, Ohio State and William and Mary start to provide me acceptances or rejections soon. Two weeks after the mid year report is enough time to review and reject if they have to :slight_smile:

Congrats! Let’s us know if you got Merit Aid.

Has anyone heard back about the DHS or Paul Tulane Scholarship yet? And are students notified through email at all or only through snail mail?

@binderpaper I believe winners are notified only by snail mail, while those not receiving the award receive email notification.

Although not snail mail, but UPS 2 day.

Actually IIRC, and I’ll check when home, I believe it is UPS express saver, which is overnight, not 2 day. Usually guarantees delivery by noon the next day, I believe.

I wish it would just happen already!

Status just changed from deferred to application is awaiting review. Is this a good sign it changed somewhat early?

right?!

OK- update. Just checked DS’s from umpteen years ago. It was sent UPS next day air saver. So unless things have changed, I’d guess that’s how it would be sent.
