Waitlisted. 32 ACT, 4.0/4.67 w/uw GPA. Applied last minute and didn’t put much effort into it essay though.
D rejected. Would have been third generation Tulanian. Not really surprised. Not angry. Great offers from other schools.
3rd waitlist in two weeks… I’m bummed this was one of my match schools
Waitlisted with ACT 34, GPA 5.0/5.0, 800s on all three SAT IIs. Seriously…I don’t know what to think.
I should think that you are most likely going to one of a half dozen other highly thought of schools. Good luck!
Decision: Rejected
SAT-2060
Gpa-4/4
Put my heart into the essay. Extremely disappointed. It really hurts when u put something that means a lot to u in the essay and still get rejected. Anyway best of luck to the other applicants!
@fallenchemist thanks for your encouragement, but i poured my heart into my tulane app since there’s a professor with whom I really wanted to study there…it certainly wasn’t a last minute safety or anything like that to me…
Then I suggest that after all your decisions are in, assuming you are still waiting on some, that you write Tulane, tell them very specifically where you have been accepted and that out of all those schools, Tulane is still your #1 choice. Also be very specific (again even if you already were before) about the prof you intend to work with. It is all you can do.
@fallenchemist thank you for your advice. Hopefully there’s still some hope…
Seeing some of these results, it does lead me to one conclusion. Now this is a guess, I have no insider info. But it does seem that Tulane must be dealing with a much higher early yield from the EA pool. If true, they would have to wait list and deny students much more than in the past. It would also explain the change to releasing the RD results all at once.
It also begs the question I already asked, which is how much of this is due to the USNWR ranking leap?
Alrighty, rejected as well.
My scores:
SAT - 2110
TOEFL - 111
GPA - 5.0/5.0, but I’m international, so I don’t know how much that means.
I really wanted to get in, but life lacks mercy.

Is it likely to receive merit money after being wait listed?
In the past, there was usually merit money offered to those who qualified. This year, who knows.
does anyone know if it’s possible to apply for the spring semester as a freshman, or do you have to transfer? Tulane’s my dream school and I’m not ready to let go just yet.
I’m new to the site - dealing with the admissions decisions from many places as they are now finally coming in. The one issue, as a parent, that I’ve had with Tulane this cycle is that they seem to have continually “put off” making decisions on a bunch of well rounded, interested and very well qualified students.
High stats, EA, deferred and then wait-listed. EA shows interest, scholarship applications shows interest, visits show interest. Correspondence after deferral showing interest. But if the kids don’t fit just tell us. Because the decisions actually didn’t seem to correlate with if they did show interest (visited, emailed, truly were interested in the school) despite the “show us the love” we kept hearing.
And all of this is fine, in one sense - that being that the schools are always in control.
But in another, I really wish that the EA deferred kids had all at least gotten a definite answer today - even if it would have been “no”. I know that we’re told to tell our kids to check their egos, but Tulane deals with 17-21 year-olds all the time (and admissions deals with 17-18 year-olds). You can’t tell me they don’t know the ego issues and couldn’t have been more sensitive about how they do this. Having been told twice by the same school “maybe - you’re qualified - but we can’t say yes or no” isn’t helpful at all. And I know the school doesn’t have to be helpful. But it almost leaves a worse taste than if they had just made a decision of “No”.
To all schools - if you’ve said “maybe” once, just don’t do it again.
So now we wait on other schools, and are a bit sad about how this turned out. NOLA and Tulane would have been great for my senior.
Did the financial aid package come with the acceptance or wait listed decision today?
After applying EA to submit for the PT & the Dean’s scholarship, my D was deferred and today wait-listed. 2310 SAT/ subject tests (SAT II ?) 750 Math, 750 US Hist, 780 Lit./ top 5% of class (30/600) GPA only 3.66 and 14 AP classes by end of senior year.
Wait-listed. 3.3 GPA, 26 ACT, applied SCEA, showed a lot of demonstrated interest and visited twice. Super bummed
I think you will have to check with admissions to be 100% sure about this. I know they will give people a gap year if you ask and fill out a certain form, but I don’t know about a gap semester.
